Marie Osmond Returns to Vegas Stage After Son's Funeral

By Bryan Alexander  Posted Mar 10th 2010 03:21AM
Vowing that singing would help her "survive," Marie Osmond returned to the Las Vegas stage Tuesday night amidst tears and standing ovations.

It was her first public performance since her 18-year-old son Michael Bryan took his own life on February 26 and one day after she laid him to rest at a Provo, Utah funeral service.

"The way Osmonds survive is we keep singing," Marie said after the first of three standing ovations, according to Radaroline.

    "My son would want that."

Marie wore colorful gowns through the sold-out 90-minute show with brother Donny at the famed Flamingo Hotel. But she did shed tears during an emotional solo opera-number which she dedicated to her son.

During his solo portion of the show, Donny said: "I hope you all appreciate what Marie's going through tonight. That fact she's even here...what a strong woman."

Academy: Farrah Fawcett Omitted Because of TV-Heavy Career

By Bryan Alexander  Posted Mar 9th 2010 08:18PM
Farrah Fawcett was left off the 'In Memoriam' segment of the 82nd Academy Awards because she was an actress better known for her television work, the executive director of the film academy said on Tuesday.

The controversial decision to leave the 'Charlie's Angels' star off the list was the final result of a long discussion, Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences executive director Bruce Davis told the Associated Press.

Fawcett was best known for her "remarkable television work," he said, and would be more appropriately honored by the television academy at the Emmy Awards. The Academy Awards recognizes achievement in movies.

"In every category, you're going to miss some wonderful people," said Davis, who has helped assemble Oscar's 'In Memoriam' montage since it began in 1993.

Something Ain't Right About Lindsay Lohan's Lawsuit

By Mike Hess  Posted Mar 9th 2010 05:47PM

Pop-Ed: As the day wears on and the ridiculousness of Lindsay Lohan's $100 million lawsuit against E*Trade settles in, a thought popped into my head that I felt needed to be shared: On behalf of PopEater, I'm officially declaring shenanigans on this story, and going out on a limb by saying that E*Trade is in on this "lawsuit" by Miss Lohan, and likely even paid her to "sue" them. Why would they do such a thing, you ask? The explanation after the jump.

Gosselin Vs. Gosselin: Kate Wins the War With 'DWTS'

By PopEater Staff  Posted Mar 9th 2010 05:22PM

Pop Ed: It's almost hard to conjure an image of Kate Gosselin circa 2007: reverse mullet, reputation for endless nagging, famous only for her large brood of children. Back then, fans rallied around her poor, beleaguered husband; when news of the couple's split first broke, PopEater polls showed an audience vastly skewed in support of Jon Gosselin.

Then everything changed. Jon's behavior, including multiple dalliances with younger women and an increasingly likely pre-separation relationship, turned the tide in favor of Kate. By October, four months after the Gosselins announced their intention to divorce, nearly 75% of over 256K voters were decidedly rooting for Kate. With the news that Kate is one of 11 celebrities who will be competing on season 10 of ABC's 'Dancing With the Stars,' we're calling the game... and Kate won.

New Film From Ron Howard Starring ... Heidi Montag?

By Dino Sossi  Posted Mar 9th 2010 05:20PM
While getting ten plastic surgery procedures in one day (!) may have made 'The Hills' star Heidi Montag feel fabulous, it's a spoof video she shot with none other than Academy Award-winning director Ron Howard that may stand the test of time better than a Botoxed forehead. Montag, Howard and Funny or Die collaborated to create the laugher on a seriously unfunny topic: urging Congress to enact financial reform. Seriously.

Andy Richter Still Fuming Over Leno, NBC Snub

By Sam Brand  Posted Mar 9th 2010 03:43PM
Fans are bitter that Conan O'Brien got kicked off the air. Friends are bitter, too -- Jimmy Kimmel has made that all too clear. CoCo, himself, is bitter -- but getting over it, slowly, with the help of Twitter. But perhaps no one is more bitter than sidekick Andy Richter.

On Tuesday morning, nearly two months after NBC announced the end of Conan's tenure on the 'Tonight Show,' Richter told Kelly Ripa that his feud with Jay Leno and NBC is still very much alive.

Tim DeKay Talks 'Collar,' Kelly Kapowski and Playing 'Bizarro Jerry'

By Mike Hess  Posted Mar 9th 2010 03:36PM
Tim DeKay's television career is one for the history books, so the whopping success of his show 'White Collar' is just the icing on the cake. The devilishly handsome actor -- who has been on everything from 'Seinfeld' (Bizarro Jerry! Which he almost didn't play!) to 'Carnivale' to the incredibly racy 'Tell Me You Love Me' -- is now a part of USA's tremendous lineup with 'Collar,' and he stopped by the PopEater headquarters to chat about the show's vibe ("It's 'The Thomas Crowne Affair' meets 'Midnight Run") and why being faux-married to Tiffani-Amber Thiessen "doesn't suck."
