2. Um, I am sorry, but I would rather see Kelly as number 1. Personally, I would like to see someone top the list that has a talent for both writing AND singing. I'd like to see number one's be a product of their own talent, and not the puppets of a head honcho at a music label.A true power player is one that is able to stick up for what he or she believes is true quality in today's music industry of copy-cat artists, but until that is the reality for a true number one power ranking, I guess I'll look at Kelly and know that she is someone that actually has the "what's next" blurb to follow her career...

3. I'd prefer to see Kelly #1 because she is such an incredible artist and she has definitely sold more than Carrie and any other idol. I think Carrie is pretty good and at this moment in time she takes the IT girl edge.

4. pretty amazing to see Kelly still ranked top 2 after FIVE YEARS and after coming off the least watched season of them all. Kelly stands on her own, and doesn't depend on Idol for her success. Kelly has completed four successful solo tours as well and continues to strive for personal and artistic growth which makes her more interesting than most of the former idols.

5. I rather see Kelly at number 1 too. Carrie is #1 base on popularity and CD sells of last year and this year but over all I believe Kelly should be #1. Although this list is just someone's opinion. There are a lot more idols who deserves a spot up in the top 10 and they are not even there. There are a few who are up there but don't really deserves that spot.

7. I agree with everyone's comments about Kelly, but i especially agree with Laura's comment. Kelly deserves to be number 1, and that's that. I didnt even comment about the way they wrongly placed the other idols, cause Kelly is, and will always be, my favorite. Unlike some of the others, i strongly believe we will continue to hear new music from Kelly well into the future.

8. American Idols should be able to sing any kind of music.
Let do so calculation:
Total number of hits / Total number of years the artist has been around = The ranking number of the artist(Higher is better)

9. One more comment,
Originally American Idol was set out to find a great pop singer. I don't mean to pick on Carrier Underwood but if all Carrier Underwood sang was country songs in the competition, I believe she wouldn't become American Idol. Take Chris Daughtry for an example, he's a great rock singer and that was all he did. Did he win? no but did he success in his career? yes.
Ask Simon, he knows best =o)
Try Paula Abdul and Randy Jacksons as well.

My point? We wouldn't have to fight over this silly thing. =o)

13. I met Kelly Clarkson once when a friend of mine was interviewing her on a local radio station - she is an ABSOLUTE SNOB. She would NOT get my vote -- I give her another year --- and she'll be in the "Where Are They Know" website.

14. Kelly SHOULD be number #1...She has done the most and has the highest record sales out of them ALL..... Why would she be number #2 when she sings all different kinds of genres that appeal to EVERYONE and not just country?

15. Kelly is definitely deserving of the number one slot here. Carrie is a great artist, too, and I've downloaded several of her songs... however, Kelly is the only artist that I will throw everything down to hear. KC can sing anything you put in front of her: pop, rock, country, blues, jazz, the classics... you name it, Kelly can make it sound amazing. Carrie is a genre singer, and since I love country music, too, I can say that Carrie sings country and pop country very well. Kelly's voice reaches farther, though, and that's why Kelly should be number one (that, and My Decemeber was an incredible and completely underrated album - I'm still a little angry with Clive over that one!). Keep on rocking, Kel - we love ya!
