About to Pop: We the Kings

Album: 'We the Kings'
Hails From: Bradenton, FL
For Fans Of: The Starting Line and All-American Rejects

Why They're About to Pop: These Florida natives are breaking up the pop-punk scene with their fresh take on a weary sound. Travis Clark (vocals/guitar), Hunter Thomsen (guitar, backing vocals), Drew Thomsen (bass) and Danny Duncan (drums) met while attending King Middle School -- the inspiration for their band name. The Kings' first single, 'Skyway Avenue,' won over audiences with its affable melody, while the band has enjoyed a slew of TV placements, including their ballad 'This Is Our Town' in 'One Tree Hill' promos and 'Stay Young' on MTV's 'Newport Harbor'. The band has been booked for this year's Warped Tour will be out with Cobra Starship on the Really Really Ridiculously Good Looking Tour, which begins on January 16.

Three Questions with Travis Clark, singer/guitarist of We The Kings:

What inspired the songs on your record?

We were inspired completely by our friends, family, hometown and our personal relationships. We wanted to make sure that the record made sense with who we were as people.

If you could have any musician's career other than your own, whose would it be?

If I wanted someone else's career I wouldn't be working on my own! But I suppose if I had to choose I would say that the Rolling Stones have had a really long run!

If we looked inside your refrigerator, what would we find?

We are on a health kick right now, so you would find a lot of fruits and vegetables. Also leftovers from the Dollar Menu, which really isn't healthy but its cheap and it hits the spot.
