Why They're About to Pop: This Florida five-piece was born from the creativity of Ryan Kirkland and brothers Josh and Jeremy Butler back in 2005. They soon built a solid following in their area, playing clubs and perfecting their songwriting. They later added keyboardist Wes Anderson and guitarist Brad Kriebel to round out the sound of their debut album, 'The Story and the Song,' which was originally released on indie label Bonded Records. Between the Trees' buzz grew stronger, attracting Universal Records to give them a major label recording contract. You can check out the band's pop hooks and lyrical sensibility all summer on this year's 2008 Warped Tour.
Three Questions with Lead Singer Ryan Kirkland:
What inspired the songs on your record?
Life stories pretty much. They all have personal meanings in one way or another.
What's your favorite song on the record?
'Fairweather' -- number 9 [on the CD].
If you could have any musician's career other than your own, whose would it be?
Chris Martin from Coldplay. Coldplay is amazing and we would love to have the career that they've accomplished!
