Fresh off a year-long break, Southern rockers 3 Doors Down recently stopped by our Beverly Hills studio to perform songs off their new self-titled LP, as well as a rocking rendition of their breakout hit, 'Kryptonite.' Frontman Brad Arnold also talked to AOL about the new direction the band took with their first release in three years. "I've always wanted people to take something positive from our music, and this record is definitely a lot lighter, and not like just kooky lighter," he said of the self-titled effort. "It's a lot more looking into the bright side of things, and I think people are really going to enjoy that." With three platinum-selling albums under their belt, the band is certainly aware of expectations fans have for their new material. Still, they insist that their loyal fan base will follow them in a new musical direction, drawing a comparison in the country world. "I know it's off-the-wall-sounding, but one artist that really did that, Garth Brooks, started out one way and, through his records, he went a little different directions," he said. "And people were willing to follow him once they were committed to his music." The band hopes to follow in the country star's footsteps by setting the bar high for themselves. "A goal that we've always had is to, with our new record, make people forget about our old one," he said. "Also, we go by the rule that we never want our prior success to carry us anywhere."
