(Aug. 21) - Controversial talk-show host Bill Maher will likely catch a lot of flack from religious diehards for his latest project, a hot-button documentary entitled "Religulous" -- but he may score an Oscar to boot.
In the film, the eponymous host of HBO's "Real Time With Bill Maher," himself a devout atheist, engages everyone from casual churchgoers to social behavior experts to fire-and-brimstone zealots in a dialogue about the nature of religion and the realistic feasability that God exists.
But perhaps the most shocking thing about the film, in theaters Oct. 3, is the unanimously heavenly reviews it's receiving from critics. Variety and the Los Angeles Times are already singing the film's praises, with the Times going so far as to say that "Religulous" is almost surely guaranteed a best documentary Oscar nomination.
