(Sept. 22) - On paper. In pitch meetings. Hell, even in rehearsals, it might have seemed like the greatest idea ever. Take super tenor Josh Groban, throw him in front of a house band and have him sing cheesy TV theme songs in tribute to the less-than-golden age of television.

The audience appeared dumbstruck as were several of us at home, but you have to hand it to Groban, who didn't let up for a moment and sang jingles from 'The Love Boat' and 'The Muppet Show' with the passion he would bring to 'La Ultima Notte' or 'Si Volvieras a Mi.'
Time will tell if the performance will be looked upon years from now as a fantastic commentary on the classic appeal of '70s TV themes. But today, all we can think of is Rob Lowe's trainwreck of an Oscar performance, dancing a jig with Snow White.
