Meg Ryan Spills Beans on Quaid, Crowe

(Sept. 23) - Eight [years of silence] is enough for Meg Ryan, who is finally opening up about her failed marriage to Dennis Quaid, and makes time to dispel rumors about her relationship with Russell Crowe.

The 46-year-old star of "The Women" tells InStyle that Quaid's wandering eye played a major part in the collapse of their 10-year union.

"Dennis was not faithful to me for a long time, and that was very painful," she says, adding, "I am not a victim. I was there. I was in that marriage for a really long time."

But don't cry for "America's Sweetheart" just yet, she says the divorce turned out to be "incredibly liberating."

"Now I was utterly free. I didn't have to care about what people thought. I have gotten to do what I guess I secretly wanted to do. Be totally under the radar and live my life."

The two were married in 1991, ending in 2001.

And to all the naysayer that believe her romance with Crowe had anything to do with the split ... no dice, although she freely admits to being the bad guy in that situation.

"Russell didn't break up the marriage," she says. "I was a mess. I hurt him too at the end. I couldn't be in another long relationship. It wasn't the time for that. So I got out."
