(Sept. 23) - After striking platinum 2006's 'The Evolution of Robin Thicke,' the soul singer needed a change. So Robin Thicke penned new material and entitled the collection, fittingly, 'Something Else.'
Skip over this content"After two years of singing the same songs every day and being on the road, I needed something else," Thicke told PopEater. But the album's title expands on the notion of change, Thick, the son of '80s TV star Alan Thicke and soap veteran Gloria Loring, says, particularly that of political change.
"I felt like with what Barack Obama's talking about and what we're going through as a country right now, it's time for something else."
That notion spawned the sultry first single, 'Magic,' an ode to presidential candidate Obama. "It was summertime and it was Barack Obama time," Thicke says about the song's choice as first single. "I wanted people to feel that they had magic inside of them and magic was possible. And that the world was going to be a better place with Barack Obama in the White House."
