Why They're About to Pop: Karmina, meaning "song in Latin," is comprised of sisters Kelly (piano/vocals) and Kamille Rudisill (guitar/vocals). At the young ages of 8 and 10, their mother enrolled girls in the San Francisco Conservatory of Music, where they were classically trained in voice and learned music theory and composition. As teens, the Kelly and Kamille won a Disney-sponsored contest, which helped them land song placements in TV shows like 'Summerland' and 'Girlfriends.' The singing sisters then went to college together at the Thornton School of Music at the University of Southern California, playing L.A.-area shows in their downtime. Their demo of melodic alt-pop ditties eventually landed them a recording contract with CBS records, and now Karmina's uniquely enchanting debut single, 'The Kiss,' has been featured on 'The Hills,' and '90210.'

Six Questions with Karmina:

What were each of your first kisses like?

Kamille was in the car with her third grade boyfriend, Joey. Kelly, as well as Joey's older brother, Teddy, were also in the car. They told Kamille and Joey to kiss. Being good younger siblings, Kamille and Joey pecked on the lips. So romantic.

Kelly was playing in her front yard with her younger neighbor, Bobby Joe. The idea of kissing found its way into their conversation. It seemed like a really cool and daring idea, and they went for it. The kiss was amateur, but definitely exhilarating for a nine year old.

Are you fan of the TV shows your music has been featured on?

Unfortunately, we hardly have time to watch TV. But we love what we see when we get around to watching the episodes with our songs on them.

If you could have any musician's career other than your own, whose would it be?

It's hard to say because you don't know what goes on behind the scenes, but if we had to guess based on what we see and read in the media, Coldplay.

If we looked inside your refrigerator, what would we find?
Tons of fruit! Also some yogurt, ice cream, avocados, laughing cow cheese, salsa and carrots.

What are the most played songs on your iPod?

'Violet Hill,' Coldplay; 'Viva la Vida,' Coldplay; 'Just for Now,' Imogen Heap; 'The Moment I Said It,' Imogen Heap; 'Between the Bars,' Elliot Smith; 'The Way I Are,' Timbaland; 'The Pretender,' Foo Fighters; 'Tiny Vessels,' Death Cab for Cutie.

What did you think life as a musician would be like when you first started out and how does it compare to what it's really like for you now?

We always knew that life as a musician would be more challenging than the media makes it out to be. We've worked hard for our little successes, and we continue to work hard for our bigger successes. The journey never ends. We've come to realize that there will never be a point when we can slow down our work ethic. It's all part of the game.
