About to Pop: Every Avenue

Album: 'Shh. Just Go With It'
Video: 'Where Were You'
Hails From: Maysville, MI
For Fans Of: Fall Out Boy and All Time Low
Why They're About to Pop: In 2003, four Michigan natives -- David Strauchman (lead vocals), Joshua Randall (guitar, vocals), Jimmie Deeghan (guitar, vocals), Michael Govaere (drums) and Mathew Black (bass) -- formed Every Avenue, a pop/rock outfit who released two EPs on their own before signing with Fearless Records in 2007. Earlier this year, the band unveiled their first full-length album, 'Shh. Just Go With It,' which has garnered a loyal fanbase due to the quartet's undeniable energy and positive outlook. After a stint on this year's Warped Tour, the boys are currently out on the road again for the 'The Compromising of Integrity, Morality & Principles in Exchange for Money Tour,' which features All Time Low, Mayday Parade and the Maine. Catch them on the road now through November 29.
What inspired the songs on your record?
Dave Strauchman: Everyday life and personal experiences have always been a major influence on our music. We write about what we know and what we've been through -- relationships, tour, friends, family ... everything.
What's your favorite song on the record?
Mike Govaere: My favorite song on the record and my favorite to play is 'A Story to Tell Your Friends.' It has a bouncy vibe, which is fun for me as a drummer.
If we looked inside your refrigerator, what would we find?
Jimmie Deeghan: If I owned a refrigerator, you would find an endless supply of Mountain Dew and pudding.
If you could have any musician's career other than your own, whose would it be?
Josh Withenshaw: Elvis Costello or Paul McCartney. Both of them are absolutely amazing songwriters.
What did you think life as a musician would be like when you first started out and how does it compare to what it's really like for you now?
Matt Black: My goals were so small when I started playing music. To think of how far I've come is crazy. I started out just wanting to go on one tour. I never thought years later I'd still be touring and that people would actually be coming to my shows. My life is much different -- and for the better -- than what I could have ever imagined when I first picked up a guitar.
