Dear Alec Baldwin --
With you being one of our comedic heroes thanks to your genius work on '30 Rock,' it pained us deeply to hear you attack the programming decisions of AOL and its homepage, where PopEater stories are often featured.

During your interview with 'View' host Joy Behar (filling in for Larry King), you declared that AOL's homepage offers "the dumbest content you could find," referencing how it frequently points to stories and videos featuring the latest fights on 'The View.' Your comments suggest that battles between Joy Behar, Elisabeth Hasselbeck and the rest of the 'View' crew were unfairly sensationalized.
It's no coincidence that we cover 'The View' whenever there's a noteworthy clash which often involves Hasselbeck and Behar. Their debates are often heated and polarizing. But the women on 'The View' (and surely the show's producers) would appear to know and live on the fact that when these tussles occur, interest in the show spikes. Before Rosie O'Donnell brought constant bickering to 'The View,' we rarely saw it make the headlines.
So why not question Behar about the increase in these heated episodes?
In a recent poll about the 'View' brawls, of more than 70,000 readers, 46% voted that they find the battles "infuriating," while 32% found it a combination of "infuriating," "entertaining" and "engrossing." People react to polarizing issues and conversations, all of which 'The View' provides. Hasselbeck's teary response in July to discussion of the n-word with Whoopi Goldberg was PopEater's 20th most-visited story of 2008.
So, Mr. Baldwin, while it upsets us that someone we hold in such high regard thinks of us in this way, we just wanted to explain our logic about our coverage of those 'View' fights.
With Love,PopEater.com
