Many of Billy Bob Thornton's co-stars including Heath Ledger, Brad Renfro and Bernie Mac have either died prematurely or suffered severe physical injuries. Is it a curse or a coincidence?     Bernie Mac, who starred in 'Bad Santa' with Thornton, died at the age 50 when he developed pneumonia that came from seemingly nowhere.

    John Ritter, who also starred in 'Bad Santa' with Thornton, died at 54. His illness was caused by an undiagnosed congenital heart defect, which it appeared no one had anticipated.

    Heath Ledger starred in 'Monster's Ball' with Thornton. Ledger died at 28 of an accidental overdose.

    Jim Varney starred in Thornton's film 'Daddy and Them'... This was his final role before dying of lung cancer at age 50.

    J.T. Walsh acted alongside Thornton in 'Sling Blade.' Walsh fell ill at a San Diego-area resort on February 26, 1998 and died at the age of 54. According to reports, his publicist Cynthia Snyder said, "He was just on holiday... The paramedics came and weren't able to revive him."

    Brad Renfro died at age 25 of an overdose shortly after he completed filming 'The Informers' with Thornton.

    Morgan Freeman had surgery to reconnect nerves and repair damage to his left arm and hand following a car accident on August 3, 2008. Freeman starred alongside Thornton in the movie 'Levity.'

    Jason Priestley crashed his race car head-on into a wall just months after Priestley and Thonrton finished filming 'Tombstone.' Priestley wrecked his car going nearly 180 mph and suffered serious injuries, including a fractured spine but recovered.


    Shia LaBeouf, who starred with Thornton in the film 'Eagle Eye,' rolled his truck over after he had a head-on crash with another vehicle on July 27, 2008. Shia underwent surgery for injuries to his left hand and also sustained minor injuries to his head and knee.
