(Feb. 23) - Heath Ledger's truly psychotic turn as the Joker in 'The Dark Knight' earned him a posthumous Oscar on Sunday, but not before his colleagues gave him a standing ovation and after getting a touching acceptance speech from his grieving family.
"This award tonight would have humbly validated Heath's quiet determination to be truly accepted by you here, his peers, in an industry he so loved," the actor's father, Kim, said after winning best actor.
His mother, Sally Bell, added, "Tonight we are choosing to celebrate and be happy for what he has achieved. The award will go to "your beautiful [daughter] Matilda," said his sister Kate Ledger. The award will be held in trust by the Academy until the 3-year-old girl turns 18.

And the Oscar Winners Are ...

"You just have to look at Matilda to know she's totally like her daddy. She has the same mannerisms, and I really feel he's in her," Bell said backstage. Matilda's mom is actress Michelle Williams.
Ledger, who died in January 2008 of an accidental overdose of prescription drugs at age 28, becomes only the second actor to win an Academy Award posthumously. Peter Finch won the first for 1976's "Network."
The Australian actor was nominated three years ago for his stirring portrayal of a sexually conflicted rancher in 'Brokeback Mountain.' He lost to Philip Seymour Hoffman.
