Keach Hospitalized, in 'Stable Condition'

(March 18) - Famed actor Stacy Keach had to be replaced by his understudy in a stage production of 'Frost/Nixon' on Tuesday after being hospitalized.

The 67-year-old star is in "stable condition" at a Los Angeles hospital, his spokesman Dick Guttman said in a statement.

According to the Los Angeles Times, the actor suffered a mild stroke with "no impairment whatsoever" of his speech or mobility.

Keach plays late former President Richard Nixon in the stage production of 'Frost/Nixon,' which was recently brought to the silver screen by director Ron Howard. The touring production is scheduled to end its run in LA on March 29, and there were no details on how his hospitalization would impact the play.

Best known by the masses for his portrayal of hard-boiled detective Mike Hammer in a series of the same name and for playing the warden on 'Prison Break,' Keach is an accomplished stage actor with Broadway credits including 'Indians,' 'Deathtrap' and 'Solitary Confinement.'

His film roles include a white supremacist in 1998's 'American History X' and a preacher in the 2008 'W.', about another former President, George W. Bush.
