(March 24) -- In a stroke of casting that seems so obvious we can't believe we hadn't thought of it already, Anne Hathaway has signed on to play 'The Wizard of Oz' starlet Judy Garland in both screen and stage adaptations of the biography 'Get Happy: The Life of Judy Garland.'

After scoring her first Oscar nomination in 2008 with a stunning performance in 'Rachel Getting Married,' Hathaway also wowed the Academy Awards crowd when she showed off her song-and-dance chops alongside host Hugh Jackman.

Garland is perhaps best known for starring in 1939's "TheWizard of Oz" and singing its Oscar-winning ballad "Over theRainbow." Other career highlights included an Oscar-nominated turnin the 1954 musical remake of "A Star is Born." She died in 1969at age 47.
