(April 9) - Britney Spears put a halt to her concert in Vancouver on Wednesday after smoky conditions at the venue she was playing made her feel "unsafe" -- later telling her fans to lay off the marijuana.
According to The Vancouver Sun, the concert was stopped without notice for around 30 minutes, drawing boos from the restless crowd until an announcement was made over the loudspeakers: "It's become uncomfortable and unsafe for the performers, including Ms. Spears. The performance will not proceed until the air clears."

"People are chanting her name. Others are just yelling and howling. The mood is sour. I'd hate to be a smoker right about now."
After a few more minutes, Spears and her crew emerged and launched into her first hit, 'Baby One More Time.'
Spears' publicist, Holly Shakoor, issued a statement apologizing to fans. The statement said, "We want to apologize to all the fans who attended our Vancouver show tonight for the brief pause in Britney's set. Crew members above the stage became ill due to a ventilation issue."
Spears began her 'Circus' tour of the United States, Canada and England on March 3 in New Orleans. Her father and attorneys are exploring the possibility of expanding the tour.
