Cops Doubt Truth of Madonna's Horse Tale

With things looking less serious than originally thought, Madonna said she feels "better" after taking a spill from her horse this weekend, which she blames on overzealous paparazzi.
Skip over this contentThe New York Daily News caught up with the Material Girl, who showed no signs of any injuries. After asking the paper "Are you the guys that spooked my horse," Madonna quickly made pals with the paper and said she feels "better" after her fall.
Madonna's publicist Liz Rosenberg claims the accident occurred because paparazzi jumped out of the bushes to photograph the singer, startling the horse. Current boyfriend Jesus Luz and other guests watched Madonna thrown from the animal's back.
Photographer Thomas Hinton claims he had no part in the accident, and the Southampton Village Police Department backs his argument. Hinton says he did indeed take some photos of Madonna on Saturday afternoon, but left the area because he couldn't get a good angle. When he returned 40 minutes later, he was informed of the accident, he says.
"I arrived more than 10 minutes after she fell, and I was shooting from the street," Hinton told the Daily News. "I don't know what [Rosenberg] is talking about."

Hinton also tells TMZ that he had nothing to do with the spill, saying "if I had startled the horse, I would have gotten pictures!"
Sgt. Herbert Johnson informed TMZ that none of the witnesses mentioned a paparazzo. "There is no mention [in the report] of photographers. It's a matter of spin control that went out of control," he said. "If they felt there was something else, they would have written 'paparazzi' in the form -- if they felt there was a problem."

Fellow Hampton-ite Billy Joel thinks Madonna should stick to safer transportation.
"Madonna fell off a horse?" She should stay off of those horses. This isn't the Wild West," he joked to The Daily News.
