Why They're About to Pop: Electrik Red is comprised of four girls who simply go by their first names -- Naomi, Sarah, Lesley and Binkie. Binkie and Lesley both attended NYC?s Laguardia School of Performing Arts, and met Toronto natives Naomi and Sarah while working as back-up dancers for artists like Usher, Mariah Carey and Ciara. Although the four girls had impressive resumes as professional dancers, they also had been trained in music, which is why they knew they could take their talent to the front of the stage. In 2005, Electrik Red recorded a demo, which led to their major label recording cotract with Def Jam in 2007. The girls were paired with producing powerhouses the Dream and Tricky Stewart (Mary J. Blige, Beyonce), who helped shape their debut album, 'How to Be a Lady, Vol. 1.' Now the fierce foursome is prepped to unveil their edgy R&B style with Electrik Red flair. ?I?d like people to hear four strong women who are very comfortable with their sexuality and with what we can bring to the world,? Lesley says. ?We will be heard!?

Why did you choose to name the group Electrik Red?
Binkie: I came up with the name after we had the idea of the music. We wanted something to be impactful, sexy, eye-catching and memorable -- and it just rolled off the tongue.
Before you formed the group, you were back-up dancers for artists like Usher, Mariah Carey and Ciara. What was that experience like?
Lesley: I learned so much from dancing with Usher and Ciara. Their professionalism and love for their craft truly speaks volumes. And most of all, it felt like a family, so there are a many things that I would carry on into Electrik Red's career.
Binkie: It was amazing to get to travel and do what we trained all our lives for, and to be apart of all these peoples careers. It was a wonderful inside scoop into what it takes to be the best.
Naomi: Dancing professionally behind and working with such amazing artists was a serious technical rehearsal before Electrik Red. I truly feel like we are better entertainers for every one of these experiences.
Sarah: The experience was amazing. I was over the moon when I booked my first dancing job. I was living my dream -- something I studied my whole life to do -- and the rush of performing in front of these huge crowds that Usher etc. would bring was indescribable. I was hooked. It also was a great introduction to the whole music industry for me, which has helped me prepare for Electrik Red and our 'World Domination' plan.
What did you do to celebrate your debut album being released?
Lesley: We haven't had the official album release party as yet, but when we do -- and we shall have several -- we are gonna paint the town red, baby!
What track on the album is your favorite, and why?
Lesley: 'Kill Bill.' We've all been in similar relationship situations and you ponder how to handle it when your significant other has acted the fool. It's actually a really fun exaggerated version of what you really would want to do.
Binkie: 'Bedrest' -- it's when you're just plain ol' lovesick.
Naomi: I'm gonna go with 'On Point.' It's cocky and bold, and a good record for when you're on you way to the club!
Sarah: 'Devotion' is my favorite. It's a beautiful love song but not corny, very Electrik Red style. The harmonies are really pretty and the production really bumps in my truck. It's just a feel-good song that hits you right in the stomach.
Lesley: On the last show on the Ne-Yo tour, we ran out onstage for Ne-Yo's set with towels on and pretended to flash him. His name was spelled on our backs -- the reaction of his face, as well as the band, was priceless.
Sarah: Binkie and I have a flyer war! There's one random flyer in particular that we picked up at the beginning of the tour and we strategically hid it in each other's things so that we'd find it unexpectedly. Yesterday it was all rolled up in my sock.
Which girl group of the past would you aspire to be like?
Lesley: All of them! They've all had some level of success and paved the way for us, but if you need specifics, I'll go with Spice Girls.
Binkie: Everyone. They have all made significant marks in the music industry
Naomi: I agree with Lesley and Binkie -- all of them, for every reason.
Sarah: Destiny's Child's longevity, Total's rawness, SWV's classic melodies, TLC's cross-over success, Vanity 6's naughtiness and yes, my friends ... Spice Girls' money!
