Melanie Fiona Crosses the 'Bridge' in Our New York Office

Fiona also played the staff some tunes from her impressive debut album, 'The Bridge,' which sounds somewhere inbetween the hip-hop-tinged soul of Mary J. Blige, and the type of '60s-throwback production that made Mark Ronson a household name. Wearing her influences on her sleeve, Fiona says, "I was the only 6-year-old who knew Sam Cooke records."
Aside from introducing new audiences to the music that inspires her, Fiona also has a positive message she hopes to get across. Her song 'Ayo' sums up the overarching theme on 'The Bridge.' "It's an anthem for the people," she told us. "If we just unite, we'll be all right." Amen.
