We love 'American Idol,' really we do. But season after season, the show starts to look the same. After a few weeks of auditions with surprises here and there, we end up with a top 12 that's basically interchangeable year-to-year, with few exceptions (yes, Adam Lambert, we mean you). Then Susan Boyle came along, and we took notice of a little show called 'Britain's Got Talent.' It's got a few things in common with 'Idol,' not the least of which is judge Simon Cowell - but most of what it's got is the unexpected. Check out the ten reasons we'd rather be watching 'Britain's Got Talent.'

Britains Really Got Talent

    A. Simon Cowell, Amanda Holden and Piers Morgan all have British accents, which makes them sound smart. B. No Paula Abdul.

12-year-old Sally has a beautiful voice, but that's not what brings a tear to the eye - it's the fact that she's singing a duet with her grandfather. The beautiful voice doesn't hurt either.

A teenage rugby player with an angel's voice? What the what? Shaun Smith brought along a pack of his mates to hear him bring the house down. Bold move.

We saw the soul patch and didn't expect what came with it - a competent aria in the voice of a... soprano?

    iTV

Colorful duo Harmony surprised the judges with their powerful voices - Tutu Spice and Legwarmer Spice brought out the big guns in their rendition of 'What Is This Feeling' from 'Wicked.'

The only thing more adorable than little Sally of '2 Grand' is her 76-year-old gramps John, recently widowed and singing his heart out in tribute to his late wife.

    iTV

Lest you think Britain only has vocal talent, here comes little Hollie Steel to prove that - yep, it's true. She's dressed as a ballerina to sing a song about dancing, from 'My Fair Lady,' and it's amazing.

    iTV

The whole world had Susan Boyle figured as the winner of this year's 'Britain's Got Talent' - and then they heard Shaheen Jafargholi. This tiny 12-year-old singer with the enormous voice turned the competition upside down.

If your momma didn't teach you not to judge a book by its cover, not to worry - Susan Boyle's there for you. The audience and judges snickered when the frumpy older woman took the stage, but those tremendous pipes wiped the smiles off their faces. And then replaced them with better, more genuine smiles.

10-Year-Old Natalie Okri has admitted that school bullies have been getting her down, but anyone who can put a smile on Simon Cowell's face with the power of song will surely triumph over some nasty twerps.
