'Chris' Actor, Girlfriend Die in Car Wreck

Johnny Palermo, a young actor who appeared in more than 30 TV shows in his brief career including a recurring role on 'Everybody Hates Chris,' died June 8 in an early morning car accident in North Hollywood, Reuters is reporting. He was 27.

Also dead is his girlfriend Alessandra Giangrande, who was reportedly driving at the time. Her brother survived the crash but suffered serious injuries. Palermo and Giangrande were pronounced dead at the scene.

The actor only began his career in 2004, but has made a name for himself in small roles in 'Cold Case,' 'CSI: Miami,' 'How I Met Your Mother' and as Frank DiPaolo, Chris' overgrown classmate in the CW's 'Everybody Hates Chris.' He was also a regular on the Nickelodeon series 'Just for Kicks'

This fall, the Rochester, N.Y. native will be seen in the indie film 'Pizza With Bullets.'

Funeral arrangements have not been announced.
