Tom Cruise has agreed to co-produce a fourth 'Mission: Impossible' movie with previous director J.J. Abrams for a tentative 2011 release, according to Reuters, though it is still uncertain if Cruise will be starring in the next installment.

The last movie in the franchise grossed $395 million worldwide in the summer of 2006 -- a downturn compared to the second film's gross of $545 million and the original movie's earnings of $452 million.

A continuation of the franchise with Cruise's involvement is somewhat of a surprise. Viacom chief Sumner Redstone discontinued his studio's relationship with Tom Cruise three months after 'M:i:3' opened.
Abrams is not on board to direct, and no writers have yet been hired to begin working on the next installment.
