John Corbett Says Aidan Has 'Moved On'

Actor
John Corbett is returning to the big screen with his 'My Big Fat Greek Wedding' co-star, Nia Vardalos. This time though, he'll learn how to date and dash after only five dates in 'I Hate Valentine's Day.'
Corbett dishes to PopEater about 'Sex & The City,' his relationship with Bo Derek and the return of 'United States of Tara.' With the second 'Sex & The City' movie filming later this year, is there any hope to see you reprise your role as Aidan?"Those people are all my friends. I spent a couple years with them and have a great fondness for every one of them. So yeah, it would be fun to be with them again. But realistically, I don't think there's a place in the storyline for Aidan to come back into Carrie's life. I think she's moved on. And he has certainly moved on; he has a wife and kid now."
In a recent interview, Bo Derek gushed about you being the love of her life. Usually you two are pretty quiet about your relationship."Yeah. I made a pact a long time ago to never talk about friends or loved ones in the press. I think it's a good policy. Maybe some other celebrities should follow my lead on that too."
Onto your latest project, what initially drew you to the film, 'I Hate Valentines Day'?"Nia found out I was in Hollywood filming 'The United States of Tara' and called me to talk about this new script she'd written. I read it and thought it was a cute, funny script, so we raised the money for it ourselves and shot the movie on the streets of Brooklyn in 18 days. So yeah, in about 8 weeks, we had the movie in the can. It was pretty phenomenal."
You and Nia seem to have such natural chemistry.
"There is a chemistry in life that people have-- they either like one another or they don't. Nia and I actually met in a hotel bar in Toronto about six days before she started shooting 'My Big Fat Greek Wedding.' There was just an instant connection there. I would do the rest of my movies with her, if I could. We have a lot of laughs and a lot of fun. Typical romantic comedies bring in a couple A-listers, who just met two days before shooting and are faking the chemistry. There is something real with us."
Are you anything like your romantic characters when he comes to getting a woman's attention?
"Actually, I've probably been pretty boring and normal. I haven't ever done anything really crazy. I am an old-fashioned type of romantic. [I'll] invite her out to dinner or go see a movie. When a girl has my attention, she knows it. I don't play games. I go full throttle and if she's interested, she is. If she's not, I find out quickly."

Other than 'Valentine's Day,' what other projects are you working on?
"I literally just finished a movie five days ago called 'Ramona and Beezus.' It is based on the children's book series by Beverly Cleary. It stars Selena Gomez... I also just started my second season of 'United States of Tara,' which starts up again in a couple weeks."
