Chris Brown has pleaded guilty to felony assault on his ex-girlfriend Rihanna. By cutting a deal with prosecutors, the singer won't spend any time in jail, but will have to stay 50 yards away from Rihanna during five years of probation.
TMZ is reporting that Brown must also spend 180 days in his home state of Virginia on a work camp and will enroll in a domestic violence counseling program. Brown will be formally sentenced on Aug. 5.

Chris Brown's manager, Tina Davis, was named by TMZ as the woman behind the text message that sparked his alleged beating of Rihanna. She has since denied the claims, saying: "The rumors in circulation are false. There are no emails between Ms. Davis and Mr. Brown of the type which have been described in media reports."

Chris Brown made a brief appearance in court on March 5, but did not enter a plea to felony charges. He has been charged with two felonies -- felony assault and making criminal threats -- in relation to his alleged assault on Rihanna.

Even with all of the legal drama, various reports have claimed that Rihanna and Brown are back together, though none have been confirmed. E! News also reported that the two were working on a duet together.

Court documents revealed that the police report claims Brown allegedly assaulted Rihanna in his car after she discovered a text message on his phone. According to the report, Brown smashed her head against the window, and then punched and bit her.

TMZ obtained a photo that appears to be singer Rihanna, taken shortly after Chris Brown allegedly beat her following a pre-Grammy party. Police have said the woman had visible injuries, and that Brown was gone from the scene when they arrived.

Brown can be seen leaving the police station after being booked. According to police reports, he assaulted Rihanna in the car, and told her "I'm going to beat the s--- out of you when we get home." He also allegedly threatened to kill her after she told her assistant to call the police.

In their cover story, PEOPLE spoke with the father of Rihanna, who says he hopes his daughter is done with boyfriend Brown after his alleged assault. Shortly after, reports that Rihanna and Brown were back together in Miami emerged.

Brown, seen a day before the alleged attack, released a statement on Feb. 15, which read in part, "Words cannot begin to express how sorry and saddened I am over what transpired."

If Brown violates probation, he could get up to four years in prison.
The judge also issued a stay-away order, even though Rihanna wasn't seeking one. The order means both must keep at least half a football field away from each other, unless they're both at a music industry event when the distance is only 10 yards.
Rihanna was in the building, but didn't enter the courtroom until Brown had departed.
The announcement was made moments before a preliminary hearing in Los Angeles was set to begin. Rihanna had been on standby to testify on Monday.
Brown was arrested in February on suspicion that he beat and threatened his then-girlfriend, Rihanna, after a pre-Grammy party in Los Angeles. He was later charged with felony assault and making criminal threats.
