Shia LaBeouf has been candid about the many, many injuries he suffered on the set of his new movie 'Transformers 2,' but he's taking gory details to a new level. LaBeouf spoke to Access Hollywood about an injury he sustained during a controlled explosion on the set that nearly struck the actor blind.

"We were in the middle of some chaos and I mistimed something and impaled my face on a spike. I came up and I had a spike in my eye and I had blood coming down my face and it was the dark, dark purplish kind, which is actually a great thing."

He explained, "If it had been red-ish and clear, it would mean my eye (had) popped."

His castmates are less casual about the incident. LaBeouf's costar Megan Fox said, "His face was destroyed... He has the highest tolerance for pain that I've ever seen in a human being."

Josh Duhamel added, "We thought he'd lost his eye."

A United States soldier acting as an extra in the movie told WENN last year, "We were all pretty impressed. To get up from a movie explosion, which leaves you injured, and get back in there is cool. He's got broken fingers from his car crash and now his eyelid has been slashed open. He's lucky he still has his sight."

Despite his gruesome accident, LaBeouf remains invigorated by stunts. "You're deep in adrenaline," he said. "It's almost insane. The closest thing I've ever come to being on a football team or being a boxer."
