As investigators continue to search for clues about whether prescription drugs played a role in the death of Michael Jackson, TMZ is exclusively reporting that during the raid on Neverland Ranch in 2003, a large collection of drugs was seized by authorities.
According to police documents obtained by TMZ, everything from syringes to antibiotics to powerful painkillers were found in Jackson's home. See Pics @ TMZ
TMZ reports the following was found: Versed (sedative), IV bags possibly containing anesthesias, Promethazine (strong anthistamine), Alprazolam (anti-anxiety drug), Percocet (painkiller), Demerol (painkiller), Prednisone (steroid) and oxygen tanks among other things.
The new information comes as much of the speculation surrounding the King of Pop's death is leaning toward prescription drugs and the doctors who may have prescribed them. While the initial autopsy revealed Jackson died of cardiac arrest, toxicology reports to come in the following weeks will be able to shed more light on whether or not drugs played a role in Jackson's death.
According to a new CNN report citing police documents, Jackson took more than 10 Xanax pills a night, often having his employees get a prescription under their name for him. "No matter how you cut it, this is an extremely high dosage of Xanax," CNN's medical reporter Dr. Sanjay Gupta said. "It is a huge red flag, even with the tolerance that I was talking about. This dosage is exceedingly high for any human being."
In the CNN reports, a Jackson employee told authorities that "Jackson was doing better because he was down from 30 to 40 Xanax pills a night."
