Joey McIntyre's 20-month-old son is going to be getting a fantastic Christmas present this year -- a baby brother.

The New Kids on the Block star and his wife Barrett have announced that they're expecting their second child in December. McIntyre tells PEOPLE that he "still can't get over" the joyous news, and that he and his wife "feel so blessed."

Despite his positivity, McIntyre goes on to say that the pregnancy is a bit of a surprise.

"My wife actually took the [pregnancy] test but she thought it was negative ... She came out and gave me this look like, 'No.' Then she showed me the test and I said 'It's positive! What the hell?'"

Another surprise was learning the sex of the impending baby, as both McIntyre and his wife were for some reason convinced they'd be having a girl. "We were shocked ... It's going to be a trip to have a couple of boys around," McIntyre said.

While this time around they're having another boy, there's "a deal to keep going until we have a girl ... That's what my wife says," McIntyre laughed.
