Kelis Goes From Birthday to Payday

This week, 'Milkshake' singer Kelis battled for three days giving birth to a son, named Knight. Now, she can bask in a victory of another sort, namely a court decision that forces her estranged husband to pay up.
TMZ is reporting that a judge decided on Thursday that rapper and new dad Nas must pay $55,000 a month in spousal and child support for their day-old child. He must also pay all hospital, prenatal expenses and his soon-to-be-ex wife's lawyer fees.
Nas has argued that he doesn't make enough money to pay that kind of money. He has declared his monthly income is about $147,000 and that his own expenses total about $71,000 per month.
Skip over this contentKelis hasn't commented on the decision, but she's been telling fans about her son.
"He's 7.8 pounds of the greatest stuff on earth," she wrote on her Twitter page. "I will remember for the rest of my life. He's kinda perfect btw :)"
Kelis announced her pregnancy in January when she was still married to Nas, who is also dad to a 15-year-old from a prior relationship. The couple called it quits in May after Kelis filed for divorce citing verbal abuse and infidelity. She was seven months pregnant at the time.
