Though both 22-year-old Hailey Glassman and Star magazine reporter Kate Major have laid claim to Jon Gosselin in the last month, the reality TV dad tells PEOPLE, "At this point ... I'm single ? per se."

Gosselin, who recently returned from a trip to Saint-Tropez with Glassman - and more recently, a weekend at Michael Lohan's Hamptons home with Major - adds, "I'm just a regular guy who just wants to have friendship and good times. And I like meeting people."

Jon Gosselin and His Women

Jon Gosselin and Kate Major, a reporter for Star magazine, go to dinner in New York City on July 18 but the two were definitely not on a date.

Last week, Glassman told PEOPLE, "[My parents] think of him as part of the family. They think things happen for a reason. The most important thing is if someone fits in with my family ... This is perfect. It just fits."

Gosselin now responds, "She's always a good friend of mine. Her family is so good. They took me in and I lived there for a while. I love them to death."

He explains that he and Glassman are taking a break as a couple. "She doesn't like this [craziness]. She loves me for who I am and not for what I do," he says. "We are going to chill out for a while and see where it takes us. I'm not looking for anyone."

Of Star magazine reporter Kate Major, Gosselin says, "We are just friends." Major, on the other hand, told her own magazine , "I didn't mean it to happen, it just did. I went to do a story on Jon and ended up falling for him."

While Gosselin will soon shoot scenes for 'Jon & Kate Plus 8,' which returns in August, don't expect to see his dating life play out onscreen. "I don't want to introduce anyone to my kids," he says. "We just have to play it by ear. I don't know what it's like to be divorced."

"Kate and I are just showing how we are going to live," he adds. "If she's got to work, I go home. If I've got to work, she stays home. And that's the way it's always been."

Gosselin explains, "I'm just trying to concentrate on my family first, second my career. That's what I have to do."
