Clarkson: I Didn't Steal From Beyonce

Kelly Clarkson is in an all-out battle with her record company after her producer double dipped his backing track, unbeknownst to her, also giving it to Beyonce for 'Halo.' Worried that 'Already Gone' would sound like a rip-off of Beyonce's hit, Clarkson tried to keep her track off the radio, but RCA went behind her back and released it.

Clarkson said she confronted her co-writer Ryan Tedder on the phone after she heard 'Halo' on the radio and realized the backing track was exactly the same. But it was already too late to make any changes to her record.

"No one's gonna be sittin' at home, thinking 'Man, Ryan Tedder gave Beyonce and Kelly the same track to write to.' No, they're just gonna be saying I ripped someone off," Clarkson told Canada's CBC radio (via NY Post.)

According to TMZ, Tedder is fighting back these claims though. In a statement he urges fans that Clarkson is selling him out, and he's not to blame for the similar sounding songs. "'Already Gone' is one of the best songs I've written or produced since 'Bleeding Love' and stands tall on it's own merits apart from 'Halo'. They are two entirely different songs conceptually, melodically, & lyrically and I would never try to dupe an artist such as Kelly Clarkson or Beyonce into recording over the same musical track, the idea is both hurtful and absurd," his said in his official statement.

Although Clarkson fought to keep the song from becoming her new single, RCA in turn decided to release the single 'Almost Gone' to radio stations as her third single.

"I fought and fought," she said. "In the end, they're releasing it without my consent. It sucks, but it's one of those things I have no control over. I already made my album. At this point, the record company can do whatever they want with it. It's kind of a sh- - -y situation, but . . . you know, you learn," Clarkson added.
