Just days after Chris Brown released a video apologizing for his February assault on girlfriend Rihanna, the pair were spotted spending a weekend in the same New York hotel. Though Brown is restricted from seeing the 'Disturbia' singer by a Los Angeles-issued retraining order, both stars checked into the Trump International Hotel & Tower on Friday, hotel sources told the NY Post.
Brown and Rihanna were not spotted together once during the two-day period, coming and going from the hotel in separate chauffeured vehicles. According to reports, the use of decoy vehicles were used to maintain the privacy of both stars.

In a new video obtained by TMZ, Chris Brown makes his first public apology telling his fans how sorry he is about the beating incident. "I am very sad and very ashamed of what I have done... I've told Rihanna countless times and I am telling you all today that I am truly, truly sorry that I wasn't able to handle the situation both differently and better. " he said.

During the first major preliminary hearing of the assault case against Chris Brown, he copped a plea. He'll spend 180 days in a labor domestic violence program, 5 years felony probation for assault and he must enroll in a domestic violence counseling program.

Back in April, Chris Brown pleaded not guilty to both assault and criminal threat charges in court.

Chris Brown's manager, Tina Davis, was named by TMZ as the woman behind the text message that sparked his alleged beating of Rihanna. She has since denied the claims, saying: "The rumors in circulation are false. There are no emails between Ms. Davis and Mr. Brown of the type which have been described in media reports."

Chris Brown made a brief appearance in court on March 5, but did not enter a plea to felony charges. He has been charged with two felonies -- felony assault and making criminal threats -- in relation to his alleged assault on Rihanna.

Court documents revealed that the police report claims Brown allegedly assaulted Rihanna in his car after she discovered a text message on his phone. According to the report, Brown smashed her head against the window, and then punched and bit her.

TMZ obtained a photo that appears to be singer Rihanna, taken shortly after Chris Brown allegedly beat her following a pre-Grammy party. Police have said the woman had visible injuries, and that Brown was gone from the scene when they arrived.

Brown can be seen leaving the police station after being booked. According to police reports, he assaulted Rihanna in the car, and told her "I'm going to beat the s--- out of you when we get home." He also allegedly threatened to kill her after she told her assistant to call the police.

In their cover story, PEOPLE spoke with the father of Rihanna, who says he hopes his daughter is done with boyfriend Brown after his alleged assault. Shortly after, reports that Rihanna and Brown were back together in Miami emerged.

Brown, seen a day before the alleged attack, released a statement on Feb. 15, which read in part, "Words cannot begin to express how sorry and saddened I am over what transpired."

Neither singer had an appearance or performance scheduled in the New York area over the weekend, though British paper the Daily Mail reported that Rihanna is shopping for a Manhattan apartment.
Brown pleaded guilty to one count of felony assault and will be sentenced Aug. 5. The judge in his case is expected to sign off on a plea bargain that will keep him out of jail, though he will likely be responsible for 1,400 hours of community service and ordered to undergo domestic-violence counseling. Brown is required to keep 50 yards away from Rihanna -- or 10 yards if they're at the same music-industry event. If Brown is found to have violated the order, even with Rihanna's consent, he may be charged with a misdemeanor.
Brown's lawyer, Mark Geragos, said he was unaware of Brown's activities over the weekend and added, "I don't want to be quoted on something hypothetical."
