Paula Abdul has used Twitter to announce that she won't be returning to 'American Idol' this upcoming season. In a series of tweets on the micro-blogging site, Abdul said: "With sadness in my heart, I've decided not to return to #IDOL. I'll miss nurturing all the new talent, but most of all..Cont'd..."She went on to say that she will "miss nurturing all the new talent, but most of all being a part of a show that I helped from day1become an international phenomenon." In another tweet, Abdul said that she wants to express "how much I appreciate the undying support and enormous love that you have showered upon me ... I do without any doubt have the BEST fans in the entire world and I love you all."
No reason has been given for Abdul's decision, but FOX television later confirmed the departure in an official statement.
Abdul's return to 'Idol' has been up in the air for weeks. Judge Simon Cowell and host Ryan Seacrest recently inked huge contracts, and new judge Kara DioGuardi earned the backing of Fox executives on Thursday.
The hit show begins taping segments for its ninth season on Thursday in Denver, while the show returns to air in January.

I won't be watching American Idol this time--shame on them--they treated Paula like a wet food stamp--

I agree with you. She was a great act on the show and cannot be replaced according to my opinion. Simon is okay but definitely not worth the money he has been awarded. It's a shame and I am an avid fan of idol. Took notes on the singers every week. Mite not watch this season because of the loss of a good judge.
I agree and since Adam got robbed, I just lost interest. You could see how they were setting this all up last year and I was afraid she wouldn't even last the season. Kara doesn't have half the talent Paula has in her little finger and I'm wondering which of the execs is her boyfriend.
Fox just lost about 15 fans here. Won't be watching the show anymore.
I AGREE I WILL NOT BE WATCHING!!!!
The show will not be the same without her . Paula and simon are what that show is all about. That Kara girl is no good NObody has ever even heard of her before idol. they should not let Paula go.
I agree I said if she doesnt return I will not be watching AI and Ive been a fan and watched religously since day 1. Its a shame they are replacing her with that annoying ugly wanna be liked no sense of judgement judge Kara DushBag.
I WILL NO LONGER WATCH IDOL NOW THAT PAULA IS GONE.
SHAME ON YOU ALL. IT ONLY TAKES A JERK TO KNOW HOW
BADLY YOU DECIDION IS!!!!!!
hey, I've watched my last Idol show. Kara was a joke and now they (the show ) will suffer the repercussions of not having the talented Paula on there. Too sad
If Paula wanted to leave the show...then I wish her luck, but her replacement is TERRIBLE...did not enjoy watching her as a judge AT ALL. Something about her comments were very irritating and the show seemed off balance since she joined the judges.
In her own way she makes the show, no more for me.
I agree with you. It was the chemistry between Paula and Simon that was fun to watch.
Kara doesn't add anything to the show. She just
is a repeat of what Randy says and she tries to do it with "music slang" that is supposed to make her
sound hip but really is corny.
I agree. I am done with IDOL
They will lose ratings cause she is much to talk about and people love her.
I, too, will not be watching American Idol. Had enough of the politics.
The lone voice of sanity on a truly horrible show. She's lucky to get aay from it before the lawsuits start.
Pauls is a caring judge and take's her job very seriously.SHE IS THE BEST OF ALL THE JUDGE'S EXCEPT RANDY. AS FAR AS I'M CONCERNED KARA CAN TAKE A HIKE, SHE'S NO GOOD EITHER. Ryan is a joke and the stupid network is paying him big buck's, for WHAT? To stand on the stage and TRY to look MACHO. HA, HA, The joke is on the network. My fan club will no longer watch IDOL. Thank you very much.
I guess they will have to turn Randy into the person with heart. The loss of Paula is really too bad for the kids. She was the heart of the show.
why is she leaving from american idol
