Oklahoma City, look out! A nude, breastfeeding Angelina Jolie is coming to town ... in statue form, of course. The latest handiwork of celeb sculptor Daniel Edwards features Jolie in the buff with two babies -- likely meant to be twins Knox and Vivienne -- feeding off of her breasts. It should probably go without saying that this work is from Edwards' imagination, and nothing that Jolie posed for or authorized. See the Pics After the Jump!
In yet another burst of celebrity-creating ingenuity, artist Daniel Edwards has cast Angelina Jolie as his statue subject. In the work, Jolie is seen breastfeeding two babies, likely meant to be her twins Knox and Vivienne. Click to See Edwards' Statues

The statue was created by Edwards in honor of World Breastfeeding Week.
According to Sandy Wilson of Phantom-Financial, the organization who funded the work, "the statue sends a beautiful message by promoting the acceptance of public breastfeeding. Mothers should be encouraged to nurture their babies anywhere."
The inspiration for the photo reportedly came from Jolie's 2008 W magazine cover photo taken by Brad Pitt, in which she's seen breastfeeding a child. Can't wait to see the statue in person? You'll have to wait until September 11 for it to be unveiled in the Oklahoma City Metro area. It will then cross the pond to London for a late 2009 display.
Daniels has made a name for himself sculpting controversial statues of celebrities. His resume includes works featuring a birthing Britney Spears and a dead Paris Hilton, both of which were nude.
Kevin's example was valid, but a bit inaccurate. You Howard are using the word 'there' in the sense of location, and Kevin is using the word 'they're' in the sense of a current action. I'm sure that you both mean 'their'. 'Their' is the third person (that's you guys) plural form of the word 'they', and it is used in a possessive context.
I don't mean to insult any of you, but I'd just like to see the correct terms being used from now on. I believe you're fully capable of doing so. :)
I'm a huge supporter of breastfeeding in public, this statue is just awful, and it *hurts* the cause, not helps.
The whole problem facing breastfeeding mothers is the ridiculous level to which breasts have been sexualized. This is something which is very, very hard to overcome in our split-personality prude/pervert society, and a statue of a naked woman breastfeeding is the *last* thing we need to help overcome.
The message should be that breastfeeding isn't sexual - it's survival. Nude Angelina Jolie doesn't provide that message. Not even close.
the statue does not even come close to looking like Angelina. its just a statue, like Venus or David, the people who created it gave it a name and it is Angelina Jolie. its a beautiful statue.
CGW--I would have to agree with you there--While I am a big "Angie" fan, and agree with humanitarian efforts that she does, this "piece of art work" looks nothing like her. Its almost a very sad, sorry, excuse for promoting what shuld be a very natural effort between mother and child--and yet, only here in America, do we have to "Celeb it up" and promote breast feeding with a famous public persona--Very sad state of who we are here, and how our soicety thinks and functions!!!
You're right. As a sculptor I am often amazed at what poor work is somehow approved by the patrons who sponsor them. Artist reputations blind too many critics...sugar daddy buys a couple of sculptural tributes to get an artist started and all of a sudden everyone(except others in the art community)ignors their lack of similarity to the subject. Same thing just happened in Louisville. Frustrating and of ill affect to the art world.
To Daniels: You suck like those babies. To the writer: Please proofread (see mistaken use of word "photo" in first instance instead of "statue" in the second-to-last paragraph).
If this falls under the rights granted by the first amendment then we are all wrong on the implied intent. And, as we all know, art is in the eye of the beholder. I do not understand how a nude statue promotes the cause of accepting public breast-feeding. You want the comments classy yet we are being inundated with a less than classy world these days.
I agree, looks nothing like her, and does nothing positive for the beautiful experience of breastfeeding. How about a little eye contact with your child? Two at once held like loaves of bread? Oh yeah, that works.
You're right CGW, it doesn't remotely resemble Angelina Jolie, but the face is rather unattractive, like a death mask. I breastfed both my children and I think it's a beautiful, sensitive, and nurturing experience. This sculpture doesn't do justice to the whole breastfeeding process. In fact, it looks like she's holding two footballs, not twins.
Breastfeading is a natural way to feed an infant, the law enforcement officer (pig) needs to grow up. If he is offended by this than let us ticket him for eating his bagal.
I really don't comment on what is shown here. But, Joli is a beautiful woman, what you shown here with the statue is totally garbage. It's looks awful and I find it distasteful. Reni
I don't mind ladies brestfeeding in public. To me, it's natural and beautiful. However, this statue depicts an unnatural and rigid pose and expresses none of the beauty and loving gentleness of a mother breastfeeding her baby. I think it's ugly.
What a silly mommy! Katie Holmes takes Suri into the water in her clothes as the two spend the afternoon at the beach in Miami. More of Today's Hottest Photos

Ummm, who is it? It certainly doesn't even remotely look like Angelina Jolie.

Statue of Jolie? I don't think so. No one would have guessed it was Angelina without your headlines. It will never make the "Louve."

Exactly right. How would anybody know who that is supposed to be, if it weren't identified?
I agree, looks nothing like her.
I, for one, am a huge supporter of breasts, feeding, and feeding off of Angelina's breasts. This deserves a standing ovation.
