Ashley Olsen Talks Stardom, Hobo-Chic Past

In a new 'Marie Claire' interview, childhood star and style icon Ashley Olsen reveals she's "surprised" she didn't end up like Britney Spears, given the demands placed on her at a young age.

"It was almost like I was in the army," Olsen said of her 'Full House' era schedule. "School, work, homework, fly to New York, get in at 2 in the morning, do a morning show at 5 a.m., then another one at 7, then a radio interview at 10, you know?"

The pressure and hectic schedule of the entertainment industry proves to get the better of many young stars, but today Olsen seems spared from the cliche fate of child actors.

"That's why I look at Britney, and I'm surprised I didn't end up like her," she said.

But, in photos from the vintage-inspired cover shoot, Olsen is not too demure to keep from getting a little racy. One-half of Michelle Tanner appears sophisticated and styled, and even strips down to a bra and panties in one couture shot. Olsen certainly seems confident, and looks polished beyond her 23 years.

These days, Olsen runs a luxury fashion line The Row, and co-designs Elizabeth and James with twin Mary-Kate. The Olsens are noted style icons themselves -- a fact that Ashley confirms they are firmly aware of.

"When we were going to NYU, I think that was the first time we were aware of the power of our personal style. Not the power of it, but the result of it," she explained. "Between the big sunglasses and the Starbucks cup and the big sweaters, the hobo-chic thing, we were more shocked than anything."

Well they don't make themselves famous- the fans and the paparazzi do.

they are still huge celebrities not because of just the movies and old tv shows, but also the lines of style they sell. the invoke us to envy them and their striking beauty.
For instance, I've got pretty green eyes but they aren't nearly as clear as Ashley's. We envy, and so some are more jealous than others and lash out.
But most of their enormous empire was made by working their collective butts off. So I give 'em props for that. Congrats girls for still hanging in there and not letting negative remarks get to you.

What happened is what always happens in Hollyweird: they developed curves, and suddenly someone said they were fat. In Hollyweird, women look like sticks, no breasts, hips or butts. These are two lovely girls who are making their ways in the world, and would be better off if the "public would stop critizing every aspect of their lives.
