Kara DioGuardi Wants Paula Back

Kara DioGuardi is still "completely shocked" about Paula Abdul quitting 'American Idol.' She's been trying to reach the 'Straight Up' singer all week hoping to persuade Abdul to "reconsider" her decision to leave

"It's such a loss for the show, such a loss for the contestants. She's definitely the heart of the panel," DioGuardio said Friday on Ryan Seacrest's radio show.

DioGuardi admits she was terrified joining the judges panel last year, but it was Abdul who eased her fears.

"The kind of heart she treated the contestants with, she treated me with last year. She was so kind to me and made me feel immediately like part of the panel," she said.

She also shot down rumors that she was hired last season as a stand-in, in case Abdul quit the show. "The way I'm understanding it is that it was her choice to leave. I never was here to replace her. It would be impossible to replace Paula Abdul. She's an incredible talent. She is somebody who helped make the show as big as it is. How could you ever replace that?"

"If anything, she was really somebody who helped me because it was awkward at times being the fourth person ... Last year, it was tough at times. Being the new kid, you get beat up a bit. I'm hoping this year that people are more accepting," DioGuardi added.

WITHOUT PAULA ABDUL THIS SHOWS RATINGS ARE GOING TO PLUNGE! THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN PAULA AND SIMON IS WHAT MAKES THE SHOW BALANCED!

I FOR ONE AND MANY OTHERS I KNOW WILL NOT BE WATCHING AMERICAN IDOL WITHOUT PAULA.

I totally agree with you. IDOL is Idol, and will strive to stay alive.
To do to Paula what they did, they just cut their own throats. Paula had a fantastic following, and I will look forward seeing her on her new show September 17th. No more Idol for me.
