Why She's About to Pop: Jessie James first displayed signs of stardom when she started singing into a toy microphone and tape recorder at age two. The Georgia-by-way-of-Italy pop artist then composed her first song on a plastic guitar at nine years old, and, after performing in front of audiences at Sea World and the Republican Convention, James was singing for record label executives at 15. Citing influences such as LeAnn Rimes, Christina Aguilera and Janis Joplin, the now 21-year-old's sound incorporates multiple genres such as rock, country, blues and pop, all of which can be heard on her self-titled debut album.
"When I first tried to get a record deal, my real problem was, I couldn't put my music in a single box," she explains. "I just loved everything. That was part of me growing up in so many different places. I didn't want to limit myself to just one kind of music. I just decided, why not just do all of it, and somehow blend it together. And I think I've done that."
James has already garnered success in her short career -- her song, 'Blue Jeans,' was featured on the 'Confessions of a Shopaholic soundtrack' and the soulful singer spent June 2009 touring with the Jonas Brothers. Catch Jessie James on select dates around the country throughout August.

Eight Questions With Jessie James:
You're a self-described "military brat." What's the most vivid memory you have of growing up around a military base?
Waiting around at the BX, which is the military store, kind of like a military Target! I also remember always having to show my I.D. before you go on base!
If any of your fans visit Nashville, what's the first thing you'd want them to check out?
The Pfunky Griddle! You can make your own pancakes at the table! Breakfast is my favorite meal of the day so I would suggest stopping here first!
'Blue Jeans' is one of your more popular songs. Do you feel pressure to wear them all the time now?
Just because I write a song about a piece of clothing, doesn't mean I feel pressure to wear them, but on any given day you are most likely to find me in at least cut off jeans!
What's getting the most play on your iPod these days?
Getting back to 'Blue Jeans,' it's been rumored that the song grew out of some step team moves you learned in high school. Care to spill the beans about it?
There are no beans to spill! I was on a cheerleading team that we did step in and I used one of the steps in the studio booth cause I thought it sounded cool. We based the beat of the song around the step. Which city has been your favorite to play and why?
Mobile, Alabama! I love the radio station there -- they are always so good to me and the fans knew all the words to my songs!
The legendary L.A. Reid was so impressed with you that he signed you to IDJ (Island Def Jam) immediately after your audition. Did you have any idea things would go so well that day?
I had always planned on getting a country record deal, but when I met with IDJ I felt at home! I knew this was the place for me!
