Miley's TCA Pole Dance Too Much?

If Miley Cyrus hoped her 2009 Teen Choice Awards performance would have people talking, she certainly accomplished her mission. The teen queen belted out her new single 'Party in the USA' during the awards show, but it was how she did it and what she was wearing (or not wearing) that made it today's water-cooler moment.

During the performance, 16-year-old Cyrus -- sporting Daisy Duke-esque short shorts -- danced and at one point, did a bit of a pole routine atop a push-cart.

Miley even used her Twitter to reference the dance, which had some people comparing her to Britney Spears and her racy performances. "For all the people calling me the "next Britney" THANK U. I couldn't ask for a better compliment :)," Cyrus said on one Tweet.

The Los Angeles Times rated Miley's dance as one of the worst moments of the night, saying she went "too far (and too low)." The Times goes on to say that Cyrus' performance with "the too-short shorts, the exposed bra and, oh yeah, the stripper pole on the ice cream truck" overtook the song.

i watched the show and as i am not to fond of the clothes she wore i do not think she pole danced. The style of clothes for teenage girls is horrible anyway. Her dancing be not the best was no worse then what is done on other award shows. The pole was on the ice cream truck for support it was moving. it just seems the media is looking to ruin this child. The more contorvesry they can dig up the better.

It's disgusting, and she's on the Disney Channel. They are pimping young girls on that network, and Miley Cyrus is getting pimped, too. She's just a kid, but they dress her and tell her to act like a horny adult. I'm getting very tired of these supposed Christian entertainers who act hornier than porn stars. Telling her to act like a horny adult? Excuse me? Do you remember being 16? Teens have better sex drives than most of the adult population. They aren't making her do anything she doesn't want to do as a normal, developing, young adult. Plus, the average age of losing one's virginity now is between 15-17. She's 16, and in now way skanky.

If America is counting on girls like Miley Cyrus, Brittany Spears and the Jonas Bros. to the moral compass for our youth...no wonder we as a country are in so much trouble. Miley is a self-confident, talented teen trying to figure out who she is (like most teens) only under the media microscope. I see nothing wrong with her performance and she handles herself beautifully. Teach your own kids values and morals.

I see girls Mileys age everyday at the mall wearing things worst than that. Shorts way shorter than what she had on. She is an actress and more than likley someone else picked out her clothes to wear for the show. As for the pole she did one leg sqaut and then just stood there holding the pole. Why do people attack the actions of a 16 year old. First look in your own closet at your past and see if you can say you never put on any clothes like that. If you grew up between the years of the 1970's to the current there is a strong possibility that you may have worn short shorts. Then check and see if you let your daughter wear clothes like this even if it is just in the house, shes still doing the same thing.

I don't think that what she did was a pole dance - that was definetely exaggerated. However, I do not think that she dressed appropriately. I am 15 years old and the clothes I own are certainly not that revealing. I feel uncomfortable going out in anything shorter than capris and don't even own a miniskirt. I'm not even allowed to wear shorts that short at home. It's the culture that I grew up with. I'm not saying that my culture is better than what this is, but you can't blame people (especially parents) for being concerned about this.
Yes, there are SO MANY teens out there who dress worse than Miley did on the show. The difference? Those teens are not a role model to hundreds of children across the nation. I can't say that Miley should be completely inhibited from wearing what she wants to and whatnot, but she should definetely be more careful when making certain decisions such as what to wear. I certainly don't want my 10 year old cousin to look up to someone who dresses like that and thinks that it is okay to wear that all the time.

Minus the short jaunt across the stage on top of the ice cream cart, which didn't seem to fit except for the fact it held the pole, I felt the clothes and the dance were fine. The pole dance was insignificant and I feel was not put there for anything but the shock value. Miley, learn from Brittany Spears, when you start selling you self sexually and begin to get more attention for your outfits or in Brittany's case lack there of, it's time to go back to private life. You're a positive influence for the most part. Don't let your publicist or whoever push you over the line. It's not worth it. You are better than that. Much, much better.

Did anyone else notice that Sean Kingston had pole dancers during his performance? I don't even think what Miley did qualifies as pole dancing. It'd be the lamest pole dance ever if it does.
