Heroin Toothbrush Bust for Douglas' Gal Pal

Kelly Sott was reportedly arrested after passing the toothbrush to Douglas -- the 30-year-old son of actor Michael Douglas -- while he was under home detention following a court hearing on a methamphetamine-dealing charge.
"The family is devastated and very disappointed in Cameron's recent behavior. Any family who has dealt with substance abuse knows how devastating it can be," the Douglas family said in a statement released Wednesday.
He is being held at the hotel, with security being carried out by a private company, PEOPLE is reporting.

Bless his heart. He really needs some serious help and so does his girlfriend. No way I would do that for my husband even.
Get some help soon Cameron. The life your leading is a dead end.

Why isn't he in jail? Why does he get to wait at his hotel instead of jail while he waits for his hearing? This is an addict that they should be playing hard-ball with. Maybe it would make more of an impression if he were looking out from behind bars.

Obviously, you've never dealt with an addict or addicted loved one. May your fate bless you with one so you can see what it is like for the family and friends. Or, perhaps you've never experienced loving a child/family member to have a clue what these people are going through. The folks who belong in jail are the ones behind the crimes - the ones who provide the drugs for sale/resale in the first place. And the person who turned this kid on in the first place deserves 40 lashes, a 10 mile walk through Death Valley in July or August to reflect on all the lives he/she destroyed to make money. You, Miss Marie, need a crash course in understanding the problem since you obviously lack empathy. Before you get your panties in a wad, I do not say that his crimes should go unpunished but right now what he needs is intervention, not jail and certainly not a cushy hotel room. If he is able to "get it", then is the time to address the crimes in an appropriate manner and if jail is warranted at that time, then he should serve his full sentence. But to just put an addict into a prison cell is to seal his fate and anyone else in his shoes. Then our judicial system becomes the criminal.

I totally agree with you Marie. This guy is dealer and as such should be behind bars, as would any regular citizen. Because Dad is a celebrity he gets
to wait in a fancy hotel with private security, this
is a glaring example of a different set of laws for the rich and powerful. Shameful on so many levels.
This man has been in rehab before and it's not helped him. Put him behind bars before he gets someone else hooked

marie, thank you for being the first to ask that question. if it was anyone else, he / she would be in jail. let's look at the facts: known drug dealer; observed over a long period of time; ;user and pusher; busted with it on his person; while in custody is found to have more on his person. and yet he gets to LOUNGE AROUND IN A HOTEL SUITE!!!!!! how dare any of you defend the poor little baby! he is a monster. he has hooked how many other people? any other person, a regular joe, would be in jail. concrete and iron. but this poor baby gets a suite? that's bull! those of you defending him, or saying "you don't know what it's like" -- need to get your heads examined. do you seriously consider him innocent in all this? NO! so why do you rise in his defense? one last question: do you readliy rise to defend those in YOUR neighborhood who do the same thing?

catlady--I deal with drug addicts every week and it's called TOUGH LOVE. You do not put them in hotel suites. Drug rehab only works if the person is WANTING it to work. He can go 50 times but if he hasn't hit bottom and lost everything and doesn't want help, it doesn't matter where he goes. Here he wanted to get his girlfriend to do something illegal to "help" him out. They only think of themselves. No one else matters. He needs a reality check!

There's a problem here when this jerk is not in jail. I'll bet they'll give his girlfriend hotel jail in the same hotel room also. No one said life was fair, but this takes the cake. He'll be out soon, affecting someone else's life with his druggie ways. The whole family has obsessive behavior...Michael Douglas...sex addition.

Bless his heart?? He's a drug dealer! He needs to be in jail, not just a rehab! If he didn't deal, and was just a user, then fine. But a dealer needs to be behind bars!

i wonder if you think the same about blacks. we get threw under the jail every day with harsh sentences over drug addiction. do you think prison isnt for us either? or is it the white kids that need help? what a joke. this guy has no known adress. there is no such thing as house arrest in a hotel. where they hire private security to watch you? are you kidding me?
anyone else woudl be in jai. this guy is a drug dealer. and the fact that dope was smuggled into the hotel for him and he had more inthe room makes it a violation. why is she locked up and not him?
shouldnt his luxury hotel sentence be revoked after this? why isnt he in jail awaitng trial?

JAIL DOESN'T CURE HEROIN ADDICTS!
My brother DIED FROM A HEROIN OVERDOSE. PUTTING addicts in jail does not help them at all!
THEY NEED DETOX AND REHAB!!!
HEROIN CHANGES YOUR BRAIN CHEMISTRY AND IS HIGHLY ADDICTIVE! They literally CANNOT wean off of it themselves!

What a moron... lucky enough to be on a type of house arrest, and you get caught with a stash of drugs. Some people have to go to jail and get a taste of that reality. I see prison in his future

I totally agree with you catlady, this is a nightmare for his family, herion addiction is horrid & he should be in a rehabilitation clinic, however, his girlfriend was doing him no favors by bringing the drug to jail for him- she's just an enabler, it's very sad & I hope Cameron gets the help he needs & he won't while he's in jail. Did he steal or kill anyone-no, he has an addiction & it should be addressesd as such. His family is well off & that is a plus for him. They can put him in a facility that can really help him. Otherwise, without professional help, after he is released from jail, he will go back to his old ways, possibly to his own demise. My prayers go out to him & his family.

This like so many other AOL stories make no sense. A "private security company" and "guard" do not arrest people. Or did they turn the losers in? The story claims at the beginning he was in "jail" but then reports "the hotel". WTF! This POS is looking at serving time with his priors. He already was on borrowed time only because of expensive lawyers in the past. The judge should now teach him and his family a lesson so he doesn't kill himself.

Do you really think rehab is right for him? He has done this before and was busted before. Do you really think his family didn't know about his addiction? You need to educate yourself. He is not a victim, he is a criminal. He committed a crime. Let's see if your compassion exists if he slits the throat of your child because he or she had a dollar in their pocket and was walking by Cameron's halfway house. Think about it. An addict goes to any extreme. Whether the Betty Ford clinic, Haseldon or the inner city hospital it only works if the addict wants it too.

Catlady get real "the folks who belong in jail are the ones behind the crimes" this is not a drug addict caught with his personal stash for recreational use! He was busted by DEA with a large quantity. What did you think he was going to do with it? He was going to sell it to whoever (kids included)to make more money and supply his habit. Do the time first then see if he really wants rehab after he gets out. You have it all backwards!
