this is absolutely sick. no human being who sits on his ass and makes fun of people deserves to be paid that kind of money!! seriously what does any movie star or athlete do to deserve this kind of money?? nothing they do absolutely nothing for society other than entertain. that is how pathetic society has become, let's pay people like him and skanks like madonna and angelina jolie MILLIONS of dollars for doing ABSOLUTELY NOTHING!!! God forbid they pay teachers, cops and firemen big bucks, because they do nothing but educate our children and save our lives all while putting theirs on the line!!! all the while celebrities do nothing but b**ch about being bothered and followed by reporters, tough sh*t for them!! they are ABSOLUTELY POSITIVELY USELESS AND it makes me sick that they are what kids today consider role models!!!

Even Ryan Secrest is making $45 million a year for American Idol... and he's just a freaking host! It's disgusting how much these people are being paid (regardless about what this means to Paula Abdul). No one needs that much money and certianly not these "celebrities". It's ludicrious.

*UNCLE D, if more people did what you suggested, we'd get rid of the shows that exploit children, seeing how their parents don't seem to mind exploiting them and we'd get rid of the shows were 1 or 2 people, such as the one with Idol gets paid more money than another!! All of them bring something to the table but it seems FOX doesn't think Paula does but once their ratings go down, they might just kick themselves in the behind. Hopefully people will stand up and take action because it's not only the right thing to do but seeing how 1 person is valuled less than 2 others, that's the main reason to take action and stand up!!! I'm not even an Idol viewer but the fact that they've done this to Paula has angered me. Hell, I'm not even a fan of hers but still, this makes me angry. Be equal/fair to ALL or don't give raises to no one... PERIOD!! JMO and I stand by every word of it... Peace

Can someone please tell me what an "audition faze" is? Or perhaps they meant "audition phase"?

it's time to stop watching this amateur hour

Reading these comments makes me feel scared like a little girl. I am going to retreat to my bunker until this Simon making big bucks fad blows over. Beyond that, Paula is deserving of a squeeze.

*KG, you're wrong. Paula does a lot more than just "judge" as you like to say. She spends a lot of time with each contestant teaching them dance routinues, being a shoulder to cry on, helping them with their vocals if need be and so on so don't tell me Simon deserves more because he produces that show!! They ALL bring something to the table as I stated in my first post and one shouldn't get paid more over another when all of them are doing things BEHIND THE SCENES for the show!! Sounds to me like you're a Paula hater and if that's the case, that's fine but don't make Simon out to be someone more important over the other TWO!!! I'm sure if this was happening to YOU, you'd have a much different view. That always seems to be the case but with people like YOU, you'll never admit it!! Peace OUT

Simon ain't worth bucks that big. The whole pay system sucks if he can get more than four times what they paid her for just being a rude jerk. So I hope she moves on and the Idol show limps to an end.

While Paula was certainly entertaining, trying to figure out just how many pain killers she took that night, I think that maybe you should stop and check out the show without her. While Paula is nice, and has many things going, it doesn't mean the show will bomb without her. Lets be honest, if she couldn't say something nice about someone's performance she always complimented their clothes or hair. Personally I think Britany Spears would be more entertaining on the show as a judge.

Ok, the longer I have been away from LA and the biz the more absurd it seems. Does Simon need 45 mil a year to live? Yes he helped Susan Boyle and gave his ex some dough but who else? Because he has a caustic tounge he's worth that much? I realize now that people in LA have lost all touch with reality and I am glad I got out of there in time although I'd be lying if I didnt say I missed it somewhat.Nothing can replace LA and the money I made there. But money isnt everything. On judgement day, I hope Simon has his speech prepared on all the good he did with his riches.

Hmmmm.....and I'm having a hard time paying the 10grand for my sons college!

I think they should not have gotten Kara and then they could pay Paula the 10 mill, wonder what Randy is being paid? It will not be the same with out Paula.

It seems AI has been gearing up for this. Paula may show a bit of a goofy side, and that may be their concern; however the American public seems to love Paula and accept her for who she is. The banter between Simon and Paula will not be there and ...if, in fact, AI does not pay her a "typical" salary, alot of the fun will leave the show.
It would be nice to set a time limit for her responses, however...
I think AI may have bet on the wrong horse.
They are taking away Simon's foil.

In my opinion, this is just another example of men making more than woman in the us. Thats all this is folks, it's just how it is. Men are more valued than women in the us, not much has changed. You won't find Kara making that kind of money any time soon either. Sad, but true.

I'm not watching any of the "A.I" when it comes on next time; I didn't agree with the Kris Allen win either. The last two or three winners have been big duds...not selling even a handful of CD's/downloads. "A.I." as we loved it is dead.

Can someone tell me what exactly are Simon Crowells credentials in judging talent PRIOR to becoming an idol judge?

I most likely won't watch the show without Paula. I looked forward to her...the show can be boring for the most part. I always enjoy her comments and outfits...hahahaha. I really enjoyed her dance routine last season...was hoping to see her participate more like that. seriously though...probably look into it and take a peek occasionally...but will get myself into something else on the television on those nights!

Totally Rediculous, yet indicative of a major flaw in our society. Simon's not worth that; no one is, and it is not only insulting to Paula but to all women; shame on all those that make this happen. I don't even watch the show but this drama is a train wreck in action. This world's economy and the world's people at large, would be in so much better shape and more balanced, if entertainers and professional athletes were not paid such absolutely unreasonable and undeserved amounts of money. All those trillions of dollars could be so much more meaningful for so many other people and causes. It is just totally disgusting.
