'Family' Patriarch: Stewie Is a Gay Baby

If six pages of a not-naked Heidi Pratt were not enough reasons to go out and grab the September issue of Playboy, here's another incentive: Elsewhere in the lad mag, 'Family Guy' mastermind Seth MacFarlane settles one of his show's worst/best kept secrets: Stewie Griffin is gay.
MacFarlane told Playboy (via Daily News) all about an episode they brought all the way to the script phase where the 1-year-old homicidal baby comes out.
"It had to do with the harassment he took from other kids at school. He ends up going back in time to prevent a passage in Leviticus from being written: 'Thou shalt not lie with mankind as with womankind. It is an abomination.'"
In the end, the show's writers decided to "keep it vague" because of the tot's age.
"Ultimately, Stewie will be gay or a very unhappy repressed heterosexual. It also explains why he's so hellbent on killing [his mother, Lois] and taking over the world: He has a lot of aggression, which comes from confusion and uncertainty about his orientation."
Also explained in the upcoming season: we'll finally find out why Protestant Lois seems to have a Jewish accent.
MacFarlane was more coy about Stewie's sexual preference in a February 2008 interview in Advocate, the gay lifestyle mag.
"We all feel that Stewie is almost certainly gay, and he's in the process of figuring it out for himself. We haven't ever really locked into it because we get a lot of good jokes from both sides, but we treat him oftentimes as if we were writing a gay character."

"Also explained will be why he wants to murder his mommy so bad."
WTF? Typo much? Is AOL hiring proofreaders? Anyway....good read.

Did we read the same story. the only proof reading needed would be for your comment. Please read it again. Your quote was not even in the story.
to jim,
they were posting to the correct artical. it was a reference to anyone that actually watches the show..knows that stewie is constatly trying to kill louis. and as far as him being gay..I always wondered, but like most people that voted, I am not suprised by it lol, I love family guy watch it everyday. ill add I do agree with the abortion episode being pulled after reading the details, I just dont dont see how even family guy could make that situation funny. sounds like a lifetime movie to me more than a family guy episode
Jim, it DID say that. The quote wasn't direct, but it did basically say that.
"It also explains why he's so hellbent on killing [his mother, Lois] and taking over the world: He has a lot of aggression, which comes from confusion and uncertainty about his orientation.""
Fourth paragraph from the bottom.
That's right jim ,ppl do not know how to copy and paste huh!! LMAO
"It also explains why he's so hellbent on killing [his mother, Lois] and taking over the world: He has a lot of aggression, which comes from confusion and uncertainty about his orientation."
Jim, they fixed the typo before you could see it. My comment is useless now it would seem. Simma downah!
I believe the confusion following this thread is hilarious. I finally got the punchline at the very end. lmao. I was confused too.
Real life babies don't act gay...they are just busy learning and surviving.
I thought for sure Sean Hannity had finally come out of the closet.
it's correct. you just can't read.
Stewie to Lauren Conrad of The Hills: Hey Lauren, I love The Hills! Do you need a gay frie-a friend on the show?"
Haha I love that, this show is the greatest.
But come one, we all knew Stewie was gay, how could you possibly miss that?

I agree! In fact I always told my husband that and he refused to believe cause its suppuse to be a "coservetive channel" which Iam not.
Seth MacFarlane does realize that its just a cartoon, right?

Well, from my experience in script writing it is sometimes better to think that it's an actual person that way you understand how the character develops throughout the series. It's easier to develop the character if you have an end result you are looking for.
I don't see why people have such negative comments on a show. It's not like anybody really cares about your opinions. Why not all agree to disagree on issues seen in the show.
If Stewie's only a year old, why must he be labeled as gay? I like the fact there's 2 sides to him - it keeps us guessing - and makes the show that much more interesting. There have been many episodes where a pretty girl turns his head, then whammo! another episode where he may be gay. I like it this way. Keep up the GREAT WORK!!

You do realize that this is a cartoon or "catoon", right? That's the great thing about television -- if you don't like something, you can change the channel or turn the tv off! I think you're taking a cartoon a little too personal. Seth MacFarlane, regardless if you like the show or not, has brought a whole generation of adults back to enjoying cartoons. And a smart, caustic, satiric, hilarious and goofy cartoon it is! There are at least two to three bits in an episode that cause me to bust out laughing uncontrollably. Relax! Don't take it so personally.

There are a few episodes where Stewie's dancing with the party girls and a few with female infants that he has a crush on. In the episode of the future, Meg is gay. Stewie is my favorite character but, yes, there have been episodes that go over the top. Some are very offensive. Yet, it remains one of the best out there.

"Meg is gay", actually, she's not. She's a transsexual.
Stewie is a CARTOON! He's not REAL! He isn't going to grow up or sleep with ANYONE! Good grief.
