'Degrassi' Stars on the New Movie, Drake & TWF (Tweeting While Famous)

Read some highlights of the interview.
On being cast as a gay character before realizing he was, in fact, gay:
Adamo: "I think walking in, whether people think this is stereotypical or not, it's important to mention - I was a little effeminate. I was really shy, and I think ['Degrassi' creator Linda Schuyler] saw that shyness and insecurity at that age. How many of us say, 'Oh, we know he's going to be gay?' I think I walked in there and I spoke to that. I'm so glad that they recognized those qualities in me, because I don't see them as negative. I see them as me."
"[My character] Marco and I have always gone hand-in-hand. He came out steps ahead of me... Marco was my role model. I had a whole manual in script form, and I looked up to him. At the beginning I sort of resented his bravery... and then I followed in his footsteps. Now, looking back, I've kind of gone past him, and I can appreciate him as a means to an end. He gave me the tools I needed to understand myself. I don't know about the level of my gayness if not for Marco."
Lauren: "To put it bluntly. You'd still love Mariah Carey and the Spice Girls."
Adamo: "But would I still love myself just as much loving them? I don't know."
On Aubrey Graham, A.K.A Drake, another 'Degrassi' alum:
Lauren: "Drake. 'Drizzy.' We're so genuinely proud of him. We knew that he was destined for this kind of fame because he has the talent to back it up.
Adamo: "He's a charming, funny guy. We're like proud parents. Lauren will scream at me or I'll scream at her to watch his Youtube clip or him on 'Conan O'Brien' or something, like, 'I can't believe it!' We hug each other."

On fame in Canada VS. fame in the U.S.:
Lauren: "The die-hard fans of the show, no matter where they are, are the same, and they're all really supportive. But I think in general, there's a much more media-obsessed culture here in the States. And I don't think that's a bad thing... so we always get a huge, huge response... We never experience that in Canada. Never, ever ever ever."
Adamo: "'Degrassi' in Canada - people know it, but there's no star culture, so we don't really know the impact that we're having until we come to New York or LA... It's a good thing. We get to feel glamourous or famous sometimes and just have a good time with that and then we can go home."
On the Twitter habits of celebrities:
Adamo: "Stars are a lot more accessible now, and I think that with things like Twitter, because we know that what's happening in stars' personal lives in very much a part of the industry. To deny it... like, 'I'm going to be a true artist,' and it's like - this is existing."
Lauren: "And I think you can't really do some of it and not all of it. I think a lot of these stars are in the tabloids for a reason, because they have a big publicity machine working behind them and they have a movie to promote, they're putting themselves out there - you can't just have that and not deal with the repercussions.
Adamo: "I think what makes an artist now is someone who's in control of that. People can access you very easily, but you have to be in control of it, and you have to do it in a responsible way."

launching their careers!! ive never even heard of these people. so they starred in some tv show teenyboppers watch, doesnt make them stars or actors. just makes them, like all the other fly by nights, celebrealities. there careers along with all those disney channel wannabes will quietly drift off into obscurity.
