Michael Jackson's body will finally be laid to rest on August 29, on what would have been his 51st birthday, the late singer's father reveals to the New York Daily News.
Joe Jackson told the newspaper that the burial will take place in a private ceremony at 10 a.m. on the date at the Forest Lawn Hills Cemetary in Los Angeles -- more than two months after his death.
The decision to bury him there, according to Joe, was settled within the last few days. Previously, there had been a disagreement over where the burial should be, with some family members wanting it to be done at Neverland and the others opposed.
Thank God we can put this whole thing to rest! Two months...Michael is getting a little ripe. At least LA can now generate revenue for the city with all the tourist money spent to see MJ's headstone. I wonder how much the city of LA paid Joe to get MJ's body?
MJ's already at Forest Lawn, so no police should be required for the burial..as long as the front entrance is blocked off ( to stop the media trucks) the police fees (if any) should be minimal - the air will be filled with helicopters.
may MJ's body finally be put to rest...it's a good thing.
What's really disturbing is his apathetic demeanor. He just lost one of his children. While he may have been the "King of Pop" to the rest of us, he was someone's child... brother AND father.
It would be my guess that Michael Jackson made hundreds of million's of dollars for the people of L.A. not to mention how much tax he paid to Cal. So a few million for his funeral seems more than fair.
If this is to be a private ceremony, why give the date and place, Joe? So you can have the media there to once again, pitch your own self serving ventures and also try to make others believe you are the grieving father? Of course thats the reason. What a a sorry excuse for a parent.
You are so right...enuff....did anybody think maybe we should mourn the deaths of our GI's the same way...maybe a moment of slience in congress followed by a big parade??? Enuff
i agree with ya'll. we should thimk bout the soldiers who is fighting for our country. but all people are thinking about is how much money people are putting out on things.
That is so sad that Joe can not keep his damn mouth shut. I am pretty sure that Michael's family would want the last moments with their loved one alone, but now everyone is going to try to get a piece of the action. It is sad what people would do for attention. R.I.P. Michael you will be missed.
I'm pretty sure some of the family members wanted the burial to be a private moment. They deserve some privacy and respect. Too bad Joe the fugly father couldn't keep it to himself until after the burial.
Maybe he gave out the information on purpose as a distraction ... so people won't find out the REAL date. Joe Jackson can't possibly be THAT stupid OR hard up for publicity (God, one can only HOPE not). Did he really think people wouldn't show up to a "Private" service after publicly announcing the exact place, date AND time of the burial? C'mon, somethings' not right.

I agree! A photo op for the dad. Let this poor man rest in peace already. I think the media has done enough damage.
