Dion's Doc: Her New Baby Came From 8-Year-Old Frozen Egg

Not only is Celine Dion pregnant at the age of 41, the child that she has conceived was from an embryo that the music star had frozen eight years ago.

Dion's doctor, Dr. Zev Rosenwaks, tells PEOPLE that he performend the in vitro fertilization for Celine's pregnancy, and that when he informed her that the pregnancy had taken, he "could hear her chuckling" with joy. "She was very happy. So was René [Angelil, her husband]. They are both very thankful."

Dion had her embryos frozen while the couple was trying to conceive their first child together, Rene-Charles. Rene was born in 2001, and years later in 2009, the frozen embryos were still good to use.

"She came back to have the embryos transferred back because she wanted to have another baby," Rosenwaks says. The doctor says that "there have been embryos that have been [frozen] for more than 10 years, and even more than 15 years, that have successfully thawed and resulted in a pregnancy," so Dion's eight year timeframe was of no major concern.

Rosenwaks says Dion "is feeling well. So far, so good. I look forward to hearing the fetal heartbeat. Rene and Celine are both looking forward to pregnancy that is a healthy one."

We need more foreign language instruction in the U.S. What Lily says in her post is that she is from the same part of French speaking Quebec in Canada as Celine. She then goes on to wish her a healthy pregnancy and a healthy baby.

Listen. I do agree with Jeff on some point. English is the spoken language of THIS country, the USA. I am sick of the people who are here, most of them illegal aliens who do not speak our language. If they can't speak it, get the hell out and stay out. I like Celine Dion and her music, you think that Celine is going to even read numb-nut's post, especially in French? Get over it. If you want to live in France you must speak French in that country. Same goes for here, English only or else, have them deported. We also have foreign senators doing the same, wanting everything for themselves and their FRIENDS. All who are here not English spoken people, get out or get shot.

Jeff, My post was for Céline, not for you... And if you say screw french, that's only because you are so ignorant that you're not able to speak other languages but english... I would be ashamed if I were you. Céline grew up only 5 minutes away from my house, and she's one of us, so that is why I used french to communicate with her. As you can see, Quebecers aren't ignorants, a lot of us are perfect bilinguals, can't say that about you, can you ;) Have fun in life, Mr. Jeff!

I don't care how many nannies they have to raise those kids or how long ago they saved that sperm, they are simply too old to be having another child. My friends finally conceived when they were in their early 40's (with invitro) and that poor kid has learning disabilities, autism and a number of other anxiety issues, which have been said are related to the mother's age when carrying the baby to full term. Women were meant to have children in their 20's and 30's when their hormones and reproductive systems are at their prime. Heck, I started menopausing at 41, so I can only imagine what a retarded mess I'd be giving birth to if I got pregnant at that age. God forbid!!!

First, to Jeff-
I know that most of my fellow Americans believe the world begins and ends in our country, but here's a newsflash for you- there is a whole entire world outside of the US and most of it has internet connections..imagine that! Neither AOL nor the internet are exclusive to the US.
Secondly to the person who stated Ms. Dion was "too old": Do you really think life ends once a person hits 50-60? When this child reaches 18 Ms. Dion will be 59-60... that is not "too old" at all..unless you are looking at age from the perspective of someone who is twelve.

Sorry, but 41 is too old to have a baby. Since her husband is old enough to be her grandfather, the baby will be lucky if he makes it to his first day of school. The dad that is. the baby will be lucky if it's not born with some birth defect.

Hey Jeff,

I've lived in the US all my life, but my great-grandparents all immigrated here from: Paternal GGF Scotland, Paternal GGM Norway, Maternal GGM Germany, Maternal GGF Ireland - but I don't speak Scottish, Norwegian, German, Gaelic or any Native American dialect (the orignal languages of this land). I speak English because this country was conquered by England and Spanish because I am a business owner who wants to appeal to a wider range of customers. Just because people in the US speak English doesn't make them American (because how many other countries also speak English? England, Australia, Canadian, Indian etc.) and if you are first generation American chances are you may not speak English yet.
