Kourtney K. Talks About the Decision to Have Baby

Kourtney Kardashian is expecting her first child with on-again, off-again boyfriend Scott Disick, and tells PEOPLE how she made the decision to keep the baby.

"I definitely thought about it long and hard, about if I wanted to keep the baby or not, and I wasn't thinking about adoption," she said.

"I do think every woman should have the right to do what they want, but I don't think it's talked through enough. I can't even tell you how many people just say, 'Oh, get an abortion.' Like it's not a big deal," she added.

Disick, for his part, has been supportive. The couple split after two years of dating last November, but got back together shortly after Kourtney found out she was pregnant.

"He wanted me to talk about it more, but I just kept to myself. He said, 'I really want you to keep it, but I will support you whatever you decide to do,'" she described of Scott's input.

Then the reality star turned to her friends for advice.

"I called my best friend crying, and I was like, 'I don't know what to do.' She said, 'Call your doctor, and at least find out the risks and stuff.'"

Then she took her search for answers to the Internet. "I looked online, and I was sitting on the bed hysterically crying, reading these stories of people who felt so guilty from having an abortion. I was reading these things of how many people are traumatized by it afterwards."

By then, her decision was made. "I was just sitting there crying, thinking, 'I can't do that.' And I felt in my body, this is meant to be. God does things for a reason, and I just felt like it was the right thing that was happening in my life."

"For me, all the reasons why I wouldn't keep the baby were so selfish: It wasn't like I was raped, it's not like I'm 16. I'm 30 years old, I make my own money, I support myself, I can afford to have a baby. And I am with someone who I love, and have been with for a long time."

My wife and I put off having a baby for the longest time, but we're truly blessed with the child we now treasure.

On the other hand, if it's not in the right context, having a baby, can be a very complicated event, like the one depicted in the song, Billie Jean, for example:

Yes, she is keeping the baby but she stated that she considered the abortion not adoption. I am well aware of all the issues surrounding abortion, physical, spiritual and financial. I suggest you do more research and learn that many abortions are free (depending on your State and if it is under welfare). While your at it, you should look up what a Partial Birth Abortion (intact dilation and extraction) actually is before you try to tell me, one who has been involved with this issue for over 30 years that they have no clue! You might be thinking of the homogenized and cleaned up version of what a Intact Dilation and Extraction actually is because I described only the last part of the procedure and will be happy to explain it to you from the beginning, if you would like.

Once life begins, it's cold blooded murder to take that lifes heart beat away, in or outside of the womb of a Women.

I am very glad that she decided not to have an abortion. You never know she could be carrying the person who has the cure to cancer, or the next president of the united states in her womb. She was right when she said, God does things for a reason. No child born is ever an accident or unplanned by God. Every baby born is born for a God given purpose.

If we believe that human life has value, we must also accept that the act that bids new life come into being is also of great value. We must elevate sex itself to more than mutual masturbation with penetration. I admire this woman for getting in touch with the baby that is half her, and deciding not to pull out the welcome mat she herself extended. I have no doubt she will look back on this decision with rejoicing when the time comes. If a sparrow cannot fall without God noting it, how much more must he note every baby that is conceived. I think Abortion is murder. If you decide to have sex with someone, you should be prepared for what may be a very real outcome of sleeping with someone. Getting pregnant is an outcome. I just dont believe she should be applauded Just because she decided to keep the baby, yes she made the right decision by not KILLING her child. But no, the fact that she thought of killing the child and that the only reason she decided to keep the baby as stated was because " she read articles about how guilty and devastated mentally the women who aborted their children were" she did it for her self..NOT the child. At least she made the right choice. Abortion is wrong. But the fact that people take it soo lightly is ridiculous. She talks about it as though she decided to keep a puppy or something...its a baby, a human life that God has created... my goodness.

This may come as ill news for those who believe in Abortion as a method of ‘family planning’: the fact is that the human embryo –from implantation onwards- is –without any doubt- an individual of the Human Species.

So, whether you like it or not, when you have an Abortion you willfully kill an innocent and defenseless individual. This has nothing to do with Religion: this is just basic science.

I am glad this Human baby was not killed.

Another pampered, self absorbed couple fails to master the intricacies of contraception. The baby will be fine and someone will pay six figures for the first pictures. The little one will have a SAG card and be on a reality show before they are six months old and the cycle will begin again. Yawn.

Yes, she was stupid for getting pregnant without first having a stable ground and relationship to support the child she helped crate. And yes, she was stupid for just thinking about having an "abortion" and not even considering another, non-violent option if she'd come to the conclusion that she couldn't properly raise her child. But I, for one, am proud of this girl for doing the right thing. Which is stepping up and and deciding to not kill her child, I hope she matures into a good mother and I hope that the dad sticks around and does a good job too. May other girls facing a pregnancy look at her as an example and do the right thing to. I wish them well. And I wish they'd be smart enough to use protection. We shouldn't be having this totally avoidable chat in the first place.

Im really glad that she decided to keep the baby!! If she believes in god, then everything will be ok!! Even though there will be the ups and downs, her family will help her go through it!! It's life, many people go through it.. She's not the only one.. She's 30 yrs old and she had her fun and i know that this will be a BIG and FUN adventures for Kourtney and her family!! I'm glad that she was able to decide whether or not to stay pregnant. I think having a baby will change her forever, but that isn't such a bad thing. Heck..she's gonna make a Beautiful Baby. Their whole family is Beautiful.

Who really cares if these selfish little rich girls get pregnant or not. All of these sisters are a bunch of spoiled brats. Have they ever heard of birth control and like someone said above, don't do the wild things if you can't deal with the possible outcome. Daddy must be proud of what he and his wife have created.

Personally, I am also pro choice... God gave us all free will and each person can 'choose' to do the 'right' thing or the 'wrong' thing. Do I kill my innocent baby or let him/her live???
Do we not realize that this is the ONLY thing that we can legally allow an innocent person to be murdered for our mistakes and choices? Yet we would be appauled if an innocent person was executed and it was realized afterwards.. Why not the little baby? A sick sick world... but I do applaud her decision.

You are a special kind of jerk. An unplanned pregnancy can be quite a shock to a woman, and it doesn't surprise me that this option was considered. She also made the corect decision for the right reasons- if you read the article, you would have seen that. I am more in shock that people were being so blase about telling her to go get one. At the end of the day, it was her decision, and I commend her for making the correct one.

Do you really not think the media would figure out if she did get and abortion and tried to claim is was a miscarriage? They would be all over that. For you to say such a thing just demeans the pain those that go through a miscarriage feel.

And to make you feel like a bigger ass- this is all coming from someone how has been trying to get pregnant for years.
