'Survivor' winner Richard Hatch found himself back behind bars just hours after appearing on 'The Today Show' to talk about his four years in prison for tax evasion, MSNBC.com reports.
Police took the reality star into custody at his sister's Rhode Island home, where Kristin Hatch heard her brother tell deputies, "Do what you need to do, just tell me why."
"I heard him tell Rich that he [Hatch] did an interview, and that's why he was going back to prison," Kristin told Matt Lauer.
However, both NBC and Hatch himself say the interview was approved by the Federal Bureau of Prisons.
Even Hatch's lawyer doesn't know why he's in prison again.
"I have spoken to Richard, and I'm so sorry to say I don't know what the grounds are for why they have him back in jail," Cynthia Ribas explained to Lauer. Watch Hatch's Original Interview Below
And all you douches are spewing your hate towards him/her. Extremely hypocritical troglodytes!!!! TYPICAL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! SPEWING YOUR HATE JUST THE SAME AS YOU ARE SUPPOSEDLY AGAINST HATE!!! HAHAHA ignorant fools lol
To Sally: May I encourage you to use the word "Soviet" instead of Russia when it comes to characterizing the political Iron Curtain climate. Russians, among many other ethnic groups had to endure the Bolsheviks like their neighbors. Russians have good and bad people like any other nation on earth! They are not synonymous with the Ex Soviet Regime.
SALLY the proplem is MATT LAUER is not to be believed.HE is an arrogant, intolerant a-hole!!! IT is probably his fault Hatch got put back in jai. I feel for him as something like that is no reason to be put back in jail. I blame Lauer as he probably lied and did not get permission.HE has no problems with embellishing anything!! LET HATCH GO HE DID HIS TIME,HE MIGHT BE A JERK BUT THAT IS NO REASON TO WASTE SPACE THAT REA CRIMINALS SHOULD OCCUPY!!
You are incorrect. If you watched the Today Show this morning Matt said he and his producers got permission from the prison board to do the interview with Hatch. Since when it is against the law to talk to another person in America anyway? My God, we become more like Russia each and every day.
To all of you, just for the record, I am on probation and will tell you they can lock you up for just about anything. I also know the IRS and had to deal with them personally. The law of the IRS is that they can collect on back taxes for 10 years but only issue a credit/refund for 3 years back. Is this fair? Is this justice? Hell no. I couldn't believe how much money they owed me, when they asked me to redo 7 years of taxes and then they refused to pay me my rightful credits as a college, educated employed person who paid taxes. I redid them because I was able to earn head of household and despite this being in my favor, the IRS kept all of my thousands in returns. It was a waste of time and I told the auditors what a bunch of crooks they were. I believe the Department of Corrections and the IRS can be wrong, can be crooked and do not care if you have paid your dues, fixed a mistake, or are working hard to change your life. Americans have become of breed of haters, of judgers, and of people unwilling to forget anyone's blemish. Every person who posts, every day has done something they are not proud of, yet are the first people to cut others down. Shameful.

Hey lay off the comment Rusko, If you read the article you will see that nbc and hatch got the ok to do the interview. So in my eyes he did nothing wrong because he got permission!!
First of all, Mr. Rusko couldn't be more wrong. As many others in reply have already stated, this interview (as well as the conditions within) were already approved by Federal Bureau of Prisons, as indicated by NBC and Hatch himself. The first question I would ask particularly Mr. Hatch after this latest arrest is whether he witnessed or knows of any unethical, unlawful actions committed by police, correction officers, or any other official while he did his time in prison. That is the only reason and motive I can see for cops to have made what appears to be a false arrest. Did the police get nervous and assume Hatch exposed a scandal on them (as if these cops have a guilty conscience and are trying to cover his tracks)? Understand this--and this is the mentality of an organized crime leader (I've taken pre-law & criminal justice courses as post-college electives so I am familiar with this): one of the ways to keep a potential witness of criminal activity quiet is to preclude them from having any kind of contact with individuals on the outside, especially those, such as the media, who have the means and tools to follow up on any and all statements and reports, let alone printing and broadcasting the matter. Nonetheless, these particular "law enforcement" officials have a lot of explaining to do with what appears to be a federal civil rights violation. I advise Mr. Hatch not to let this be swept under the rug.
Tori's mom is a hateful person and if you do not agree with her, it becomes hell. It does'nt matter if she does not agree, as the mother and the older one, she should be nicer, but I guess, she was very spoiled by her husband. In private I give her names I can not repeat here. If she really loved her daughter, she would see her grandchildren. How hateful can a mother be.
After talking to my uncle who is a very succesful defense attorney, he says the possible charge is, being a convicted felon, making a profit from interviews, stories, books, movies, etc. refering to the crime.
This guy is in his own home. He is out of prison, Has served his time. If the reason he is in jail was the interview he gave Matt Lauer it is a violation of freedom of speech. He is not a threat to society. Let him go home!!!!!
Since the terms of his parole are not disclosed, no-one can say if he indeed violated any parole stipulations. To the best of my knowledge, free speech and therefor access to the media can not be denied under the first amendment.
If (IF!!!) it is true that he has not received a tax assessment for 2000 or his survivor winnings, he should have the right to receive proper accounting. Strange how silent they remain in the face his allegations of not having received a tax statement.
Alas, I fear that turnipgirl and meso soup maybe right in their assessments. If the IRS can not be held accountable and tax payers are without recourse and devoid of lawful representation, then America is truly no longer the land of the free and our constitution and its amendments is (are) now null and void.
On another note, I highly recommend to just ignore the hecklers and spammers who frequent comment blogs such as this. If no-one responds to them, they will go away!
kenhp1, you said: "This guy is in his own home. He is out of prison, Has served his time. If the reason he is in jail was the interview he gave Matt Lauer it is a violation of freedom of speech."
He has NOT served his time. That's why he has an ankle bracelet to monitor his whereabouts. Instead of keeping him in jail, he is allowed to go home, and is only allowed to go to places with PERMISSION from his parole officer. It's the same as being in jail, except you get to sleep in your bed. He hasn't finished his jail time until that ankle bracelet comes off, or he gets released for good behavior. LOL Guess that ain't happening anytime soon.

Oh yes they can be denied. The IRS works on the basis of you are guilty until you can prove you are innocent.
He violated terms of his parole. In addition, he pissed off The IRS. Hatch...you are truly a glutton for punishment.
