Billy Ray Cyrus Unconcerned By Pole-Dancin' Daughter

Teen superstar Miley Cyrus sparked controversy with her fun-but-provocative performance at last week's Teen Choice Awards. The 'Party in the USA' singer, sporting tiny short shorts, danced and at one point, did a bit of a pole routine atop a push-cart. While the Los Angeles Times claimed that Miley went "too far (and too low)," Miley's daddy Billy Ray says his kid is just having some good, clean fun. "You know what? I just think that Miley loves entertaining people," he told Access Hollywood.

"I always tell her to love what you're doing and stay focused for the love of the art and not worry so much about opinion," Cyrus added.

For what it's worth, PopEater readers agreed - by a narrow margin. 54% of nearly 85,000 people voted that Miley's fiesty TCA dance was appropriate for the 16-year-old singer. That didn't stop 56% for claiming they would never let their own teen daughter do a similar dance.

let the girl grow up already! just like with michael jackson, everybody was talking , oh, he's grabbing his crotch, he's this, he's that. they're going to grow up right in front of us. there is nothing we (or daddy) can do about it! at least she had clothes on. she is a good girl. she's got a job and so does daddy!

I love how you put that. People today just want to see nothing but bad in a family. They don't think a family can stay together. Same for Michael Jackson, they treated him badly because they hated the fact that he is doing good for his children and his family stayed together. like what some one else said "if you don't like what you see on tv, be a parent and turn it off".

I think 16yr old girls have no business pole dancing. Unfortunatly, you can't have it both ways, if your target group is young impressionable Girls, then you have to play by the rules, and set a good example. As for her Dad, well, what good Dad would take a photo shoot with his hands between his daughters legs? In NJ these are considerd crimes, we should have let the south break away when they wanted to. They are the descedants of Scottish that the puritans drove down south for these questionable relationships with their children.

Well thank you very much for that highly uneducated guess. Are you like 200 or something because people got over that about 200 years ago, little crybaby. I'm from Texas and I'm only 11 years old, but i'm probably smarter then you. Maybe not by my schooling, but my wits are probably at a much higher level then yours. Anyways. Back to the point. EVERYWHERE that's called a crime. Ok? Plus, you should really learn some geography, because California, is in the WESTERN U.S.! Not the south! Maybe they're from there but you know what? That doesn't mean it was shot there. So I would watch your hypocritical little mouth if I were you missy. The U.S. is lucky to have Texas because we have the death pennalty. In case you can't comprhend that, it means people who do bad things get dead afterwards. Does that make sense? I hope so because I monkey could have understood that. Our state is the only reason people who are bad die afterwards. Because the rest of the country is to scared to kill people who are injust. Or is it just New Jersey? First of all she wasn't pole dancing!!! I wouldn't be concern either. I don't think that Billy is using her for a meal ticket either. The 20 year old with a 15 year old is a problem. I think I would supervise them with their visits so nothing went on that shouldn't. Or just think if they got married 30 years later he would be 50 and she would be 45. We wouldn't think anything was wrong with that.

The point is, she is NOT 45, she is a minor, and a 5 year difference in age is a BIG deal at 15 years old!
Why stop at 15 and 20.
What about one of her12 year old fans with 17 year old?
Maybe a my 8 year old with a 12 year old.
GET THE POINT! She is EVERYWHERE! I DO turn the station, but you can't get away from her influence.
Like it or not, she is a role model for young girls, and with all that fame, money and perks, comes something called responsibility!

There is nothing wrong being a "Daddy's Girl" but I think they are a little to close. First of all what DAd would let their 15 yr. old (15 at the time) draw a heart on his hand during church service and then go get it tatooed on. That sounds pretty sickening to me! At 15 she should have been listening to the sermon and maybe she would'nt be pole dancing in front of God and everyone!

Will everyone just leave the girl alone?! Shes growing up and if you think that hanging on a pole fully dressed is bad then why dont you people go look at some of the 13 year old girls on myspace that have pretty much no clothes on. Those are the girls whose dads should be worried. Not a girl who is simply trying to put on a concert.
