Simon Witnesses 'Best Audition Ever'

Although Simon Cowell is usually difficult to impress, one contestant on UK's 'The X Factor' managed to blow away the judge. 27-year-old Danyl Johnson hit the stage with an energetic performance of The Beatles' 'With a Little Help from My Friends.'

Cowell smiled and clapped during the audition, finally giving a standing ovation.

"That was single-handedly the best first audition I have ever heard," Cowell said.

"He could be one of the best contestants we've ever had," Cowell added.

Moments earlier it had been a completely different story for Cowell, who had stormed out of the arena, disheartened at the sight of a man dressed in a blue gorilla outfit. Searching for an aspirin, he claimed the day had been a "waste of time. Something didn't click today."

Danny Goeky's voice, Adam Lambert's stage presence and Chris Allen's good looks. This guy is the total package. He has star written all over him. This will be a good competition to follow. Let's see what he does for an encore.

This was a great first audition much luck to him. That was a performance by someone who loves to sing. He has obviously sang in public before the way he really played the audience up. It makes me wonder what kind of teacher he is if he can get an audience that excited.

Comments: This was the UK show, but, as for A.I., I'm still looking forward to it, but I'll miss Miss Ditzy (and I say that with affection). They don't need a permanent fourth judge right away, guest judges will be fine for this season. I enjoyed last year because, among other things, of Adam's outstanding talent. There was a lot of talent last season, and I hope that continues this year. I do wish Simon would quit with his ultra-hurtful comments, but I don't suppose there's much chance of that happening.

I think this is just Simon proving that he can make or break an artist. Because Simon said that this kid is great, everyone is agreeing with him, The guy is just OK, nothing Great. Simon is wrong this time.

Glad Paula is gone. Her comments were rarely about the music, just about how sweet someone was or how she loves their shoes, or how they should just keep plugging on, or how cute their hair is, or how she loves their enthusiasm. What about the music Paula????? DUH!!! Glad Miss Touchy Feely No Music Talent is OUT!

Am I the ONLY one who is totally annoyed at the ridiculous director and/or producers of this show who chooses to NOT allow the viewer to focus and study the contestant, because every other nano-second we are forced to view the audience, the different panel members, the backstage reactions, etc. I wanted so much to view the actual performer and his performance, but we were not allowed to view him more than a few seconds worth. I cannot believe that professionals like Simon would allow this ridiculous director and/or producers of this show to make it so totally impossible for viewers to actually VIEW the actual PERFORMANCE! I do not care to look at reaction shots throughout 95% of the performance! I want to WATCH THE PERFORMER PERFORM! JEEZ !!!!

I love Simon Cowell.. I think he is so incredibly talented and very trustworthy.. He says it like it is and that is so refreshing.. He has such a great ability to see what is really worthwhile talent and he is so good at what he does.. Those who choose to display their talents should be thankful to appear before him...
