Robin's Out, So Who Should Play Boyle?

Were you like us and hoping Robin Williams was really-truly interested in donning a house dress and playing Susan Boyle on the big screen? On paper it sounded like a hoot, and one British newspaper actually quoted the 'Mrs. Doubtfire' actor as saying he was already readying his singing voice by practicing 'Les Miz' songs in the mirror.

Alas, those rumors were just that. Williams has now slammed the Daily Telegraph article that stirred up talk he would play the 'Britain's Got Talent' phenom, leaving us without a Susan. So now that he's out, who should take it on if/when the movie gets made? We have a few suggestions:

Why not a Susan Boyle movie? This is definitely the type of story Hollywood loves - a most unlikely person who ends up having this wonderful gift; can she share that gift with the world and stay the same sweet, simple person...I also think Meryl Streep would be a good choice; you don't cast on looks alone, and a good actor can "look" like anyone. But it's still fun to play "who does she look like?" - does anyone else see a resemblance to Ally Sheedy in the Harper's spread?

I think Susan Boyle is a brave visionary. Her voice like the finest wine. Praise to her for grasping her dream and never letting go, seeing it to fruition. How many of us can say we have done that. I think she is an inspiration to women everywhere. I see Susan's face and I see the every-woman. I see the comments about what others see as her less than commely looks and it infuriates me. We have become a society that values the physical so-called beauty, the beautiful people, more than the individuality of an interesting lovely face and personality. I would much rather see diversity in my world than a cookie-cutter ideal of what a beautiful person is. The fact is that this she is a humble woman who took a chance, trained herself, reached for the moon and landed out in the vast universe! Hoorah Susan, you are my idea of a beautiful, wonderful, lovely woman and a tremendous talent.

You know what bothers me the most about this? The fact that people are even considering a man for the part! SHE'S A WOMAN! It doesn't matter how she looks, putting a man in that role is insulting and degrading.

To the out dated writer of this article.---- First of all, Susan Boyle is a beautiful, sweet, kind, talented Lady.---- Second, she has come a long way since her audition. You ought to get up-to-dated with her pictures. Haven't you see HB or People magazines. You have a very old picture leading this write-up, which should be changed to show the current time. Are you for real with your movie selections? I don't think so. Horrible, like your article. Susan has worked very hard to get to where she is today. Many years of singing and many years of providing care amd happiness to others. Susan tried out for an audition in April and then takes a lot of crap from writers who just want to sell their papers. Well there are thousands of people just like me, who love Susan Boyle and don't care for the careless writing we see on the internet and in the news. As for a movie, I am all for it with a much younger actress then any you have chosen to play her. Get off her back and put a current picture here. We have been given a gift of Susan and her singing. Many people feel uplifted and excited about her music. Susan Boyle is here to stay and we are the lucky ones. Get with the program. A devoted fan of Susan Boyle.

you people are mean..yes its true she is not the pretty woman that we are all used 2 but to behonest i think thats whats wrong in music today.. we go more for the look than the voice..i was shocked when she was on that show and she opened her mouth and this beautiful song came out ... i 4got what she looked liked and enjoyed the music... btw .. she has had a make over and she looks alot better they got those caterpillars off her face and she looks great..im sure all you who are so fast to down her looks .. look like gods urself.. what she did took balls and confidence in her talent.. I can tell she knew what she had just by that "cheeky grin" she had when she walked out.. i will watch the movie when its made..god bless us all for being different...

I also was thinking Jack Black from the AOL front cover pic of Susan. I saw the resemblance immediately. This could give J. Black a chance to show WHY he got into this business. I for one think he is a nobody and wondered who his relative was who kicked down the doors to give him his spot!!!
