In his first communication with the public about the attack this summer, Brown told his fans how sorry he is about the beating incident. "I am very sad and very ashamed of what I have done... I've told Rihanna countless times and I am telling you all today that I am truly, truly sorry that I wasn't able to handle the situation both differently and better. " he said.

Back in April, Brown pleaded not guilty to both assault and criminal threat charges in court.

Brown's manager, Tina Davis, was named by TMZ as the woman behind the text message that sparked his alleged beating of Rihanna. She has since denied the claims, saying: "The rumors in circulation are false. There are no emails between Ms. Davis and Mr. Brown of the type which have been described in media reports."

Court documents revealed that the police report claims Brown allegedly assaulted Rihanna in his car after she discovered a text message on his phone. According to the report, Brown smashed her head against the window, and then punched and bit her.

TMZ obtained a photo that appears to be singer Rihanna, taken shortly after Brown allegedly beat her following a pre-Grammy party. Police have said the woman had visible injuries, and that Brown was gone from the scene when they arrived.

Brown can be seen leaving the police station after being booked. According to police reports, he assaulted Rihanna in the car, and told her "I'm going to beat the s--- out of you when we get home." He also allegedly threatened to kill her after she told her assistant to call the police.

In their cover story, PEOPLE spoke with the father of Rihanna, who says he hopes his daughter is done with boyfriend Brown after his alleged assault. Shortly after, reports that Rihanna and Brown were back together in Miami emerged.
PEOPLE
Brown, seen a day before the alleged attack, released a statement on Feb. 15, which read in part, "Words cannot begin to express how sorry and saddened I am over what transpired."

Brown was also ordered to stay 100 yards away from Rihanna during the period of his probation.
Brown assaulted Rihanna during Grammy weekend in February, reportedly punching and beating her inside of his car after an argument. He was arrested hours after the incident, and plead guilty to a felony assault charge in June.
This summer, Brown apologized to fans, saying what he did "was inexcusable," but promised to learn from his mistakes.

Sentencing Brown was fine, but what about sentencing Rhianna for allowing him to do this and accepting him back for more abuse? I guess hse needs more than an umbrella brella brella hey hey hey. She needs a brain brain brain!

For those of you who feel that he got off easy simply because he is a celebrity....not true. Domestic violence isn't taken seriously in this country. More young women die at the hands of their husbands and boyfriends each year than from breast cancer ~ this is an epidemic. If a man did the same thing to a stranger, he would be in jail ~ but because he 'loves' his victim, he gets probation.

I so agree with you. There aren't enough laws to protect women (or men) in these type of situations.
I think some of you kinda get it but you're not getting it all the way. Attorneys and Judges make deals and deals are about money. If you offer enough to pay off the judge, you can do anything you want in America. If you're a poor boy or girl, you'll do time for spittin' on the sidewalk. The system is corrupt and getting worse all the time. So if you do the crime, don't want to do the time, poor people, save up some cash first.

I feel sorry for Chris. Rihanna is a total "Diva" who provoked a fight and got what she asked for. No one male or female should be pushed to their limits. I'd beat her ass too if I were him. Lucky she didn't get worse. When men report that they are a victim of domestic violence they are never taken seriously. I bet if the roles were reversed and Chris let Rihanna hit him and he went to a police station they probably would laugh him out of the place. She should be held accountable for her actions as well. If the judge really wanted to send a message that domestic viloence is wrong sentence her to community service as well. I feel sorry only for those women who are in abusive relationship not for women who seek and provoke abuse.

I agree. A woman can hit a man all she wants just because he can't hit her back or he's not a real man and could go to jail? Screw that! If a woman lays a hand on my son, he better hit her right back. Just because Rihanna is a woman does not mean that she didn't hurt Chris when she hit him. She deserved to get hit back. If you can dish it, you can take it.
Chris Brown's sentence is too light. He's a dog and I'm glad Rihanna got the hell away from him. He'll always have the capability to do it again to another woman. What a jerk!

This is complete crap. This huge celebrity gets a slap on the wrist for beating a woman, and everyone says oh poor rhianna. But what about the cases that aren't publicized? What about the mother or father who beats their spouses and children just for the heck of it? Feel sorry for them, the unspoken ones who live constantly in fear.

Well, here's what I think...Chris Brown was definitely wrong for beating on her the way he did...true. But there are just some women in this world that look for trouble, they see a man getting upset...but just keep provoking him, and I believe that is what Rihanna did...just kept provoking Chris, like I said she didn't deserve what happened to her, but I believe she knew he'd snap...I still like him, and I'll still listen to his music.

Obviously this is not one of the times "thinks logically...at times" is thinking logically. How in the world would you know what was being said in that car that time by people you DON'T KNOW? I suspect this silly rationalizing may reflect a personal life experience during which you gave yourself permission to do the unthinkable--beat up, not slap or push which is bad enough, but BEAT UP the woman you say you love.
If someone is "pushing your buttons" the solution is to WALK AWAY not, in false pride and anger seriously injure someone you say you love just because you did not like what they said.Besides, if soneone does act the way you so ridiculously imagined, the worst thing you can do, in their eyes, is to ignore them and walk away. EGG will then be on their face rather than BRUISES and you won't be in jail justifying the 100% unjustifiable.
Legal system there is a joke,I wish they would have sentenced him Va.(commonwealth state)

Please folks mind your own buisness, White men kill women and put them in suit case,or dump them in bushes.Stop with all this racist bull. Both of them are young they both will grow up.He didnot kill her. And the last I heard she still want to be able to connect with him. She even ask the judge to losen up the restriction. So we all need to stay out of it.

It was a deal worked out to save the expense of a Trial. Hopefully the DA consulted with Rhianna. If
she was fine with it, then its his First Chance.
On Probation for a Felony he can't afford mis-step.
If that got through to him, he'll be a better citizen. If not we have a future Jailbird.
I'm no Fan of his but the Guilty Plea was a good
move, if Rhianna is o.k. with his sentence then
move on for now. At least for the next year he's
safe to date :-) lol.

where was the judges head?????
Where is an anger management class (it should be mandatory to any abuser of any sex).
Those who let beaters slip through the cracks like this make people wonder if they are beaters too and think this behavior is an ok expression of rage !!!!!
